Question about GPS and Backlight on MDA

I have Iguidance V3.0 on my MDA with a Summiters Custom Cingular rom 2.24. While running the GPS program using battery power, the screen backlight will go off after 10sec to 2min, whatever it is set for.

I want to keep the backlight on while the gps program is running. I came over from the Treo 650 with POS, runnning TT5 for my GPS, and that's what i was used to.

I posted in Howard Forums, but just got info back about generalized settings for the screen backlight. Is there something I'm missing, any other settings I should be aware of. Or is this just the way it works if I'm running on battery, as opposed to being on power.

Thanks in advance!

From the looks of it NO. Do you use it when you are in the car?

Yes, from what I have been reading, it looks like the only way would be to plug it into power and use the settings for always on.

Well try this. This might sound kinda weird or something along those lines but I have noticed with my home and car charger if you put the phone on the charger while the backlight is on, the backlight will remain on until the phone is unplugged. Try that see if it works out for ya and let me know. If not you are going to have to find another way around it.
