Anyone know if I can simply cut the earphone wires above the microphone and solder on new earphones? Seems pretty simple to me since mine are going out. The wires are becoming dislodged from the earphones themselves and my left one works intermittently. This way, I won't have to mess with the proprietary plug.

It's up to you if you want to mess with them, but if all else fails, just buy a new one for 9 bucks..
