before I start can I just explain that I am a complete newbie to all this.. I've read some of threads and I don't understand most of the technical terminology used..
Ok.. my question..
I've bought an old XDA 1 with Pocket PC 2002..
How easy is it to go about upgrading to Pocket PC 2003, and where can I get all the files?
I bet your all laughing at how simple this is to you.. but please please help.. lol
Thanks for everyones help..
It's somewhat easy, but compatibility issues may arise... I have the sx56 (made for Tmobile) and I have tried numerous times to upgrade to 2003, but failed. I recommend if you really want to do this, go to google and search for a 2003 upgrade. This is simply like a setup program that installs the upgrade for you automatically.
A couple of questions.
1. Do you have your pda talking to your computer (as in the cradle or usb cable)?
2. What company is your phone made for?
3. Do you have any information that you DON'T want to lose on the pda? If you get yourself in trouble, I probably can help you bail out, but just to be sure...
just download that, make sure your pda is plugged into the cradle and make sure activesync is running on your computer. If it is, just open up that download and then it'll tell you step by step on how to upgrade it, if it all runs smoothly, then there you go, you got the update. If your phone freezes up or doesn't want to start up, let me know, I'll walk you through the "SD-flashing" method.
I have to go away to Wales until Sunday evening, so I'll do all of this on Monday morning as I want to do it when I have lots of free time in case something goes Pear shaped. - So I'll get back to you then,
Thanks for your help! this is a great forum by the way
(Oh, and is that update an O2 branded version with the O2 start up screen, O2 background, etc.. as I want all that sort of thing)
I've made a PPC2003 SD Card, but it wont "load it" - it just seems to ignore it.
I did a "hard" (?) reset by putting the stylus into the small hole, because when I press the power button all it seems to do is switch the back-light off.
okay, you have to press and hold that reset button on the top left of the phone, and then while holding that, press that stylus hole and then it'll boot into the wallaby loader...then it will read the card...
unless, of course, you put it on your card wrong, in that case you'll need xdatools...
