I've been given about 10 codes for my IMEI# and none of them work. When I put the SIM in it asks for the SID and will only accept 8 digits.

What do I do?

Neglected to mention:

You will need to set up activesync, and will need a 64MB+ SD card as well as a SD card reader for your PC.

You will also lose ALL of the information on your handset, so be prepared to back up everything on it.

I originally got the phone for tmobile but now using it for cingular..hah, locked phones, yeah right!...

But when you do build your own rom, use the siemens a.20 rom, not only does it work for cingular, but I can plug an at&t and tmobile sim into it and it works like a charm...

I just unlocked my Tmobile PPC Phone Edition. I am using it on Cingular and notice that it doesn't get NEAR the signal my wife's (regular) phone receives.

Is there a way to boost the signal or change the radio?
Did you get a stronger signal once you cooked it with the a20 rom?

your information is very helpful but not working for me.
i have sx 56 from ATT and i want to unlock it, so that i can use it with Orascom Telecom in Pakistan and UAE.
I tried the Siemens A.20 ROM, it even copied everything but i did not feel the difference. whenever i insert the orascom sim, it asks for a SID password and says the sim is lock.
please advise some solution for this. thanks, also i have a palm tungsten W to unlock as well.
