Strange
Your SMS problem sounds pretty strange. Have you tried resetting the device? Are you sure you are looking at your SMS messages and not Activesync or some other mail account? When you see your list of messages, you are in Pocket Outlook, and can change to see other accounts.
As for a case, you need to determine if you want a holster where you pull the phone out to use it, or a case that stays on it all the time. I really like the EB Slipper case... its a very well made case, looks good, is priced right, and is very functional. I use it for a wallet/pdaPhone Case since I have the phone with me always. If you get the one with the belt clip, when you remove the clip, the remaining nipple thats there is very small, meaning that you can put the phone in your pocket. I have the version with a magnetic closure instead of the snap closure. Much of this is preference and how fancy you want to get with a case.
You can check lots of cases out from the FAQ - Where can I get a case for my phonw?
