T-Mobile Video Display Problem

While working on my PPCPE this morning I started getting video 'grunge' (a technically precise term for "crap") for no apparent reason. It's evolved into light vertical lines running top to bottom against a blue/black background.

I was able to perform a full backup and perfomed both soft and hard resets but neither worked.

Has anyone else seen this before? ( You can see an image of the display at http://www.pocketpcpassion.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23597 )

Do you know if it is hardware or ROM related?

Regards,

dude... that's messed up!

I think you clearly have a hardware problem.... looks like you've also had some paint damage. Sounds like time to get a new machine.

I've attached the picture you posted for others to see here....

T-Mobile Video Display Problem

Thanks Mike!

You are correct that the paint is starting to wear. This is the 2nd unit I've received from T-Mobile within the past 6 weeks and the paint has worn off on both units in essentially the same places. Each unit stayed in their respective OE cases unless I need to synch to my laptop. Apparently appearances take precidence over quality!

The consensus of opinion is that the display failure it is a known hardware issue associated with the LCD. Apparently HPC uses a Sony display unit in these devices. I would have expected better from Sony.

Regards,

SB

From the looks of it, I'd have to agree that its screen hardware related.

Clearly not from damage but failure. Should probably still be able to get data off it via activesync for backup, but it will need to be replaced.

Do you use a case or any type of protection? I'd assume so judging from the paint peal, but am curious if there is any excessive pressure being applied from the front, back or sides that might cause strain on the LCD and casing?
