ATTSX56 in Europe

Hi,
I'm going to be in Switzerland, France and England this June. I have an ATTSX56 with the "unlimited data" plan and a phone plan.

My questions:

Will there be a "surcharge" for using the data portion in Europe?
If I wanted to get a SIMM in Europe for the phone portion would I need to get the phone unlocked? How would I do that? would that SIMM allow me to get data (very interested in getting my email)

THANKS!

You can get your phone unlocked, all you need to do is call t-mobile and request a sim unlock code. they will send you an email with the instructions within 24hrs. this will allow you to purchase a sim card from overseas. if you're using an international sim the coverage for your phone use & data use will be dictated by that providor. You can call t-mobile and speak to the wireless data group and they can give you prices for gprs roaming, because your unlimited plan only covers the continental us & hawaii. be sure to ask for world class roaming permissions too. this will allow you to use your existing sim incase you're not able to find a good solution. Tmobile can also give you the frequencies of the countries your visiting, (incase you have to do a manual network selection) and they will give you a toll free # to contact them incase you need help when travelling overseas.

sorry i noticed after i sent my reply that at&t is your providor. I am with t-mobile. The process should be pretty much the same, you just need to know what to ask for. Have a good trip, I hope this helps.
