Hello Everyone looking for unlock code.

My SX66 was locked. But I called Cingular and argued for about 10 mins. They obtained unlocked code for me for Free. I had to call again after a week to get the actual code. But it worked like a charm.

I have all my office emails and contacts on 1GB SD card. My argument was that I don't want to buy or use another phone and transfer all the data. Somehow I managed to convince them. Afterall I paid for both PDA and Phone.

I didn't get instructions for unlocking. I had my old deactivated T-Mobile SIM. When put that SIM in the card, it asked me for the unlocked code. I entered the code and I got success message.

If you try calling them, they will provide option to use cingular while you are outside country. But their roming rates are outrages.

When I asked unlock code to T-Mobile for my old phone, they gave it to me in a day.

I have worked for both TMobile and Cingular. TMobile (because they are an international company) only requires that you have an account in good standings with them to unlock the phone. They think that if the provide good enough service to their customers, they will stay and not use the phone on another service provider. they think that if they unlock phones for people, they will use them overseas and make more money off of them.

Does anyone know how I can properly back up my programs before upgrading the ROM? I currently use Sprite and backup to my SD card. However, after flashing the ROM and restoring that backup, the whole device is freaked out. Touch sceen in uncalibrated and will not let me get to the menu to recalibrate, the home screen is fouled up and the programs don't respond well. Are there files that I need to exclude from the backup before upgrading the ROM? Are there registry settings that don't play well with the upgrade? Am I stuck just starting from scratch?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

you will prob have to start over from scratch......but what you might try is to just copy the directories from /Program Files to your SD card and see if the .exes will work..... that way when you hard reset your PPC all you have to do is copy the directories over and make shortcuts.....this how i have doing it since i was using my SX-56 which i bought in dec 2002....this method has served me well and still works with my SX-66..... Most PPC programs will still work with this method.....that way you will not have spend forever reinstalling programs.......and if you use Spb Pocket plus and pocketbreeze you can save your seetings and then restore....doing it this way i can get my PPC up and going in less than 30 min(there are some programs that you need to reinstall .....ROCK!!!

now....

this has been bugging me for sometime...

my 66 will not update....

i always come to the country code error...

i have tried multiple upgrading tools......from cdaly1970's site and the ones from XDA-developers.... and i keep getting the same "country code error".....

when i used xda-developer's upgrade tool.... MaUpgradeUt_noID.ZIP....it will get to the bootloader, sit there for a bit, and then crap out with an error....

i bought the sx-66 from ebay....it is branded with the cingular logo...

not sure what the deal is...

any ideas?....i really want to update that sucker....

is the 1.40 ROM better than the 1.33.10 ROM?....which radio stack works the best?

thanks for your help....

ROCK!!!

BAM!!

finally worked.....i got the phone updated to ROM v1.33.50 and the v1.12 radio...

i ended up having to put it in the bootloader manually. then with the radio and ROM .nbfs in the same directory, ran the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe(i also had to rename a file called HTRUU.dll to RUU.dll)....then bout 15-20 min later ....<*poof*>...updated phone....

i had tried the BaUpgradeUt.exe several times and several different ways.....but never any dice....but hey...i learned a SH*TLOAD more about my sx-66....now i know just as much about it as i did my sx-56....lol

if you need, to can get the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe and some more information about some BA upgrade issues by clicking here----> http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...Upgrade_Errors

hope that helps someone who is stuck somewhere....some place....with a SX-66 far far away!

now just a liitle more work on my custom ext_ROM..... ...there is still a little more room left for baking.... ...i mean i bet i could stuff at least a few more cupcakes in there....right?...

ROCKED AND ROLLED!!!!

now really....is the the 1.40 worth the upgrade?.....thanks!

Has anyone else noticed this issue? After updating to 1.33.50, I cannot select the notification balloon that pops up in the top menu of my device. For instance, if I've missed a call and I have a new text message, there is generally a balloon that once tapped, shows displays the 2 icons that signify a missed call and a message. However, when I tap the balloon, it just flashes. Now I can tap and use the GPRS, signal and volume icons with no problem. Just wondering if this was a me only problem.

Thanks.

My bad. It would seem that an app was causing the problem. I did a hard reset removing all apps and it was fine. I went ahead and installed 1.40.00 though and so far it's excellent.

Chris: question for the Blue Tooth Build 3500 Stereo Headphone update

I applied the Blue Tooth Build 3500 Stereo Headphone Update
that is download from xda-developers.com http://forum.xda-developers.com/view...er=asc&start=0 that i believe
is the same as yours.

after the cab installation, i did see the audio profile.
however, retrieveing BT service failed. my BT headset is Bluetake G3. I am not sure the issue , is it due to my headset not a stereo headset or my patch didn't work?

MY bT 1.0.0.3900
ROM 1.40wwe
radio 1.12

thanks!

You don't need to beg the carrier for codes anymore - there is a free unlocking application available on xda-developers. See the first post in this thread:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=135736

Works like a charm.
