Really - nice work. What took me 8 hours to complete the first time I performed a manual, unsupported update took only 30 minutes this time. I'm very pleased with the results. I'm generally dissappointed with the lack of noticeable changes when I update, but this time I'm amazed by how much nicer things are.
The only bit of oddness is the triangle showing up saying I'm roaming. When it appears, my data connection drops out immediately and I have to soft-reset to get it connected again. That's not going to be a frequent problem as I believe it will only happen when I cross from Mass into NH.
I've been reading these posts since December when I got my SX66 and have learned quite a bit - including where and how to update my PDA's Bluetooth to the 3500 build. Thank you.
After reading the instructions on Chis' Blue Angel site for cooking ROMs, I have a question. Hopefully it won't sound too stupid.
If I backup my device prior to installing the cooked ROM that upgrades my device to Windows MP10, can I then re-load that data, or do I need to rebuild all my settings? This wasn't clear to me. For all intents and purposes, my unit works really well, so I've been hesitant to "fix something that isn't broken."
If someone could clarify this, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

If you use a program like Sprite Backup, it will backup all data (programs, settings, owner info, etc). After completing the rom upgrade you can navigate to the backup file and restore. Works great! In fact Sprite has the ability to create the back up file directly on your SD card and if you go into advanced settings it will allow you to set it as a self-restoring file.....

I downloaded winRAR and it unzipped fine. XP's unzip function doesn't like any of the roms. I was only able to get the tool to unzip. The only way I could get that updater to work though was to force the phone into the loader mode first then dock it. I am upgraded now though... thanks for putting the time into collecting it all. It made upgrading much easier.
How do you use the CallerID cab from your site? I see it adds a photo folder but not sure what to do with it. It also tries to overlay the animated checker pattern over the cingular phone - lighting bolts ani that runs when a call comes in.
Are these updates executable? Do I just click on them, or do I need to copy them into a directory on the phone when synchronized- EXTREMELY basic question, but my phone component isn't working correctly, and I need to update the rom???
My bootloader screen shows me a 2.07 version of my SX66 that a I bought from Cingular, do you know any way to unlock this version? If you do, could you help me out to unlock it for me.I'm travelling every month from here to south america every 2 weeks, so it's been imposible to use this pda over there!
And also, I've been looking for some webpages that charge us to unlock the phone and they usually ask us to send a log file to them, so my question is...Do have any idea what they do with the log file?? What they do to generate the unlock code?
Are you certain it is locked? This question comes up all the time, yet in every case, these devices are not locked and work with other SIMs right out of the box. I'll be very dissappointed if Cingular has started shipping these with the SIM lock enabled... ;-(
Yeah..it is locked for sure... for me its was surprise because I bought a regular GSM phone from Cingular, and I'm using an local SIM over there without any problems!!!But doesn't work im my SX66...right after I set up my SIM CARD on it, it ask me my PIN cODE and also my Network Code...It sucks...!!
There have been reports of the SX66 starting to show up locked. I also know that it is Cingular's policy to sell it's units locked. So it wouldn't surprise me.
So how to unlock it?? I can't say that I know, but I will share with you my experience with the HP H6315 phone. These phones came from T-Mobile locked. The unlock codes where unique for each phone. T-Mobile or HP, I don't know which, based the unlock code on a mathmatical forula using the IMEI of the individual phone. From their point of view, it was a smart move, because it ensures that unless the formula leaked, it would take a while for programers to reverse engineer it. What T-Mobile didn't count on was that their own employees would sell them out. People with "friends" at T-mobile would sell the unlocking service on places like E-bay. You would send them your IMEI number, which they would give to the T-Mobile employee, and in 24-48 hours you'd get an email back with your speific code to unlock your phone.
Now, back to the SX66. I suspect that if Cingular has started locking our phones, they would use a simular model. Which is why you'd have to provide a data file to a company to unlock it. The companies that claim to be able to unlock our phones have gotten access to the formula to create the codes.
