PDA2K Question

I've ordered one ... waiting with baited breath ...

I'm trying to figure a way around the GPS prompts thing ... since I believe the PDA2K does not play audio (cept Phone stuff) via BT Headsets ...

What if I purchased a headset like Jabra BT 200 ... with the dongle??? I think that's what it's called ... if I plugged that into the earphone jack ... would that headset give me audio???? kind of a silly fix ... but we are only talking about use with the GPS ...

Any thoughts?

I have one. That seems to work for me. There was a BT patch that was "released" from Broadcom that added a BT Headset profile. I don't have any to test with, but I have heard that it works...

Thanks Chris ....

Does anyone have this Broadcom patch??? Does it work?? I went to the PDA2K for a couple reasons .. speed (Lacking in the H6315) ... Internal antena (I've already broken one on the H6315) ... The landscape mode ... the keyboard, to some degree ...

As far as I can tell ... I'm thinking there are only 2 downfalls ... because of the sliding feature ... cases are gonna be hard to fit ... and ... audio prompts through the headset ...

I don't know what I'd do if I could get everything I wanted ... LOL ... guess I'd be board not trying to get more from what I got ... LOL

You won't get audio prompts through a bluetooth headset even with all of the latest ROMs and patches. They still come out through the speaker. There is no "headset" profile and your headset may or may not support it.

If you are talking about cases that will allow the use of the keyboard, yeah... there aren't many but there are some. If you are just looking for nice cases that have other features (belt clip, SD card slots, etc.) there are quite a few.

John is right. The patch I'm talkig about adds the ability to hear music on BT headphones, not a headset, they are different. I've got the patch at work, I think. I will post it once I get to the office today.

Here is the BT Patch that I mentioned. Rename this file with a *.CAB extention, copy it to your device and tap to install...

Chris ... thanks for the patch ... the phone will be here tommorrow or Wednesday ... price ya pay for living in a small town ... LOL

John ... What I'm talking about is getting a BT headset that has it's own dongle ... one that plugs into the wired headset port ... no pairing .. wouldn't that work just to get me the gps prompts? ... Like I said ... seems silly to have a BT capable phone and buy a headset that is for non-BT capable phones ... but I would only use it during gps use ... seems like it should work ... but then I'm far from an expert ...

John ...

can you guide me to some of the cases that would fit this phone ... I don't think the keyboard is going to be a big deal to me as I to this day have never used the one on the H6315

I have never tried it, so I don't know. I suppose it's no different from plugging in an audio headset, so it may be worth a shot.

There are a lot of new cases out for the PDA2k (and other variants.) I have the EB Cases slipper case with belt clip. They have been hard to get ad they are frequently backordered, but apparently all of the new good cases are. There are even some aluminum cases out from Innopocket and others. Depending on how much protection you need, they may be worth a look.

I ordered the Piel Frama case from MadMonkeyBoy (where I also got my PDA2K). He's local, reliable, and has the best prices around the 'net. http://www.dweiniger.com.
