Standard ISP-Not Cingular...Work?

I tried to get my standard ISP into the phone. No luck. I don't want to use GPRS. It looks like the phone is capable to dial out to a standard ISP. I put all the info needed as if it was a desktop or notebook connecting to the internet. The funny thing is that the phone never really dials the connection. It always comes back saying something like a computer/modem didn't answer the phone. I put my home phone number in and it never rang the line...so it's not even trying to dial. I dialed the modem number on the sx66 by hand and a modem answered so I know the number is good. I also tried every combination for the phone number.... 1-414-555-1212 414-555-1212 4145551212..you get the picture... My main goal is to try and use the Terminal Services Client. Does this even work with Cingular?

thanks,
Chris

Send a message via ICQ to Tetsuwan

Try it without the area code.

Unhappy

Thanks for the reply. Did that. I just found a small tidbit on this site that refers to cell providers not allowing this due to them wanting to make a buck off us and also keeping data traffic off voice lines....... A@@wipes! Totally shoots this phone down for me. I'm not paying $$$ for something I only plan to use once or twice a month, during the summers mainly. Looks like I stay with t-mobile and keep my nokia 3650. Such a nice piece of equipment the sx66 is but since I can't use it the way it was meant to be........Unless someone has a way around this I'm going to tell the store to sell the one they have on hold for me.
At least I got to play with it for a while(in-store).

Ideas?

thanks,
Chris
