I received my new 2200 battery two weeks ago and followed the charging instructions (i.e. charge the battery on the phone for 12 hours... Go through 3 full discharge/recharge cycles to set the battery's memory, etc...)
Over the weekend, my PDA2k did a hard-reset for no reason and, since this has never happenned before, I'm tempted to believe that the new battery has something to do with it.
The battery doesn't appear to have as snug a fit as the OEM battery and I wonder if that's a contributor.
Has anyone else experienced hard-resets with these 2200 batteries?
FYI... By Monday morning, it had hard-reset 3 times. I have, since, reverted back to the OEM battery and it hasn't hard-reset yet (fingers crossed).
It is possible that it is related to the battery. We have had this experience with the same battery and the Audiovox XV6600. We have not had this with the PDA2K, however, there has to be a first for everything.
Send us an email and we'll explain how to get it exchanged for a new one.
temporary fix for a loose 3300 (I don't have a 2200, try this to see if it helps)
You will need: 1 stiff business card, sharp exacto knife, cutting surface.
Take the business card and cut a 1/8th inch strip from the short side.
Remove battery.
Phone laying face down, top pointing away from you.
Place the strip along the top edge of the battery tray.
Insert the battery, keeping the small strip flush between the edge of the battery tray and the battery.
Make sure it does not fall down or interfere with the battery contacts.
The battery should "feel" more snug and less likely to move and pop out.
The 3300 battery has not popped out since I added the paper strip.

For a device at this level, you may as well be suggesting to place it in a hermetically sealed mayonnaise jar.

How many hours for heavy usage do people get for the 2200 battery?
How many hours for heavy usage with the 3300 battery?
Shellin' out $130 for the 3300 doesn't quite seem worth it, but it depends on how many days it lasts!
I have the 6600 and I use the 2200 battery. Works fine here. Have not really had an issue with battery fit as some seem to have had. I had the battery come out once when I dropped the phone but other than that it has worked fine, gives me hours of extra use and overall I'm really pleased.
I never really considered the larger battery as it just seems to be too large and bulky. If you require maximum usage without charging it could be what you need, otherwise the 2200 is likely to be the most case friendly alternative.
the 3300 is big....but after having 3000 mAh of battery with my sx-56(internal and the external battery together... )...max battery life is the way to go......
now for the case issue....there are a few nice metal cases out there....and i was thinking about getting the 3300 and a metal case. then i would take my dremel to the back of the metal case to accommodate
that hump on the battery......should work pretty nice....
OK, just wanted to report what I have ordered....without even getting my Sprint PPC 6600 yet!! I have been patiently waiting to get it since February because Sprint offers $150 off for their 18 month promotion. In the meantime, my brother (who apparently is a member of this forum unbeknownest to me!) has switched from VZN to Sprint to get this phone...mainly because Sprint is minutes from launching their EV-DO. So I am just going to LOAD up on accessories...
I ordered from Lion the 2200ma battery. From what I read, I think it is the way to go to so your phone can last the day...I think the 3300 is very bulky, and a little bit of overkill...not to mention, it probably gets hotter than Hates!
Secondly, I found a great deal on the best BT headet available...I got it from Ebay, and a seller named Edgecellular. It is the Plantronics M3000--20 hours of talktime! After shipping, it cost me $40. I couldn't believe it...and I did the "Buy Now"...it was listed at $24.99!
Lastly, I am going to order the I.trek and Iguidance GPS tonight...I have done a ton of reading/research on it, and from what I have read, it is the best deal. I really like the feature of "checking weather" on Iguidance--very neat! However, I was very close to getting Pocketmap Navigation USA 2004. I like the look of their maps better, and it re-routes better from what I have read. But, they don't use NavTeq, and that isn't good for the Detroit/Michigan area. I still think it is a better program, but Iguidance seems more reliable.

I live in an area where I bounce in and out of roaming contantly at work and in my basement at home, so I think that takes up a little more juice than if the phone had several solid bars all the time. I don't have any BT devices (yet) and I did not IR beam anything during the time that is reported below.
Shipment:
My v3 3550 mAh was shipped on May 24, 2005 and it arrived on May 26, 2005.
Installation:
At 7:20pm on May 26, 2005, I removed the Audiovox BTR6600 1490mAh battery from my (Sprint) PPC-6600 for the first time (with backup niMH battery at 100% charge) and affixed the Mugen 3550mAh to my PPC-6600. Only a soft-reset occurred after the change. A hard rest has not occurred. I did not receive a solid red light during this process. After exactly three hours of charging with the factory supplied cradle (plugged into an outlet) the charging-indicator light turned green.
Fit:
The original Audiovox BTR6600 1490mAh battery that came with the unit had never been removed from the PPC-6600. The original battery exhibited a very noticeable "wiggle," slipping horizontally side to side, left to right, but not vertically when secured. When I applied pressure to the back of the original battery and slide it side to side or attempt to slide it up and down, neither a hard or soft reset occurred. The "v3" 3550mAh battery does NOT exhibit the wiggle that the OEM battery had. The Lion-supplied Mugen 3550mAh battery does not slide around either vertically or horizontally when affixed to the back of this PPC-6600 unit. Applying pressure to the back of the 3550mAh has not produced either a hard rest or a soft reset over the course of seven days.
I have tried every way I can imagine to squeeze this battery around on the back of the device, but I cannot make it slide around, lose contact, or cause a hard reset. I even tried to squeeze it into a molded plastic case designed only for the OEM battery. I can report that the PPC-6600 with Mugen 3550mAh battery attached does not fit into a http://shop.brando.com.hk/bwxdaIIsCD...erhardcase.php Brando WorkShop O2xda IIs CDMA Version Leather Hardcase-- but it did squeeze the battery really hard against the back of the blue angel without any adverse effects: no soft reset, no hard reset, no problems at all. The device, with Mugen 3550mAh battery attached, does fit VERY well inside the factory-issued, magnetic-clasped, ballistic nylon case that came with the PPC-6600.
Performance:
The software installed on the PPC-6600 indicated the battery arrived with a 46% charge. After charging for two hours and thirty minutes, the factory-loaded software said the battery had a 100% charge. After this 3550mAh battery charged for three hours, the light turned green. Mark said to charge it for twelve hours before testing, so that is what I did.
Since then, I have subjected this battery to my normal real-world use, exactly how I used the PPC-6600 with its original battery. My OEM battery was consistently depleted to 25% capacity after 24 hours of my regular use (telephone calls, light web use, no bluetooth, dim backlight). After 80 hours of similar usage (telephone calls, moderate web use, no bluetooth, full backlight) the OEM software said the battery still had 50% charge remaining.
I did not plug-in, cradle, synch, or otherwise charge the since the 3550 from 7:20am on Friday, May 27 until 3:14pm on Thursday, June 2, 2005. After a total of 151 hours and 54 minutes of my normal usage, the battery would no longer power the phone. After charging from 3:14pm until 8:16pm the light turned green. From 8:16pm last night the unit was not "turned on" until 1:18pm on June 3rd and at that time, the OEM internal software reported that 7% of the battery's charge remained. At 2:39pm on June 6, 2005, the software reported that 51% charge remained.

Just switched from PPC6700 to AT&T Tilt.
I too had the privilege of testing one of the v3 3550 mAh batteries and all I can say is WOW. I have previously used and had issues with the v1 and v2 2200 mAh batteries. With the v1/v2 batteries on my XV6600 I was able to reproduce the soft resets at will.
My v3 battery arrived on the 26th of May and right away I could see the difference. The v3 battery fits SO MUCH better than the v1 and v2 batteries. As soon as it arrived I put it on my XV6600 and pushed/prodded the battery from all sides of the phone, pressed straight down on it with the phone flat in a number of areas (simulating some of the stresses it would encounter in a pocket) and there were no resets.
Next I did a series of drop tests with the battery on the phone. I dropped the phone so that it would impact the surface at a different angle each time.
Ten 12 inch drops on to a couple of pieces of cardboard sitting on formica surface.
Four 6 inch drops straight on the formica surface.
Two 3 foot drop on to a carpeted office floor (concrete covered with thin foam padding and very short cut pile carpet).
I had absolutely NO RESETS!
After the initial testing, I gave the battery a good over night charging and then started using it every day (11 days and running so far). It wouldn't fit in my EB case that I normally used, so I went to using the original slipper case that comes with the phone. It fits very well in this case. I carried the phone in both my front or rear pocket of my pants everyday. This would have really created numerous resets with the v1/v2 batteries. Again, not a single reset with this v3 battery. This thing has been rock solid!
The battery life with the 3550 mAh is absolutely phenomenal. This thing has really spoiled me.
I have no financial interest or other affiliation with LION Batteries or Mugen Power. I really commend them for their efforts and commitment to resolving the issues with their batteries and the superb customer service they have provided me.
FYI... I received my new 2400mAh replacement battery (as a replacement to the problematic 2200mAh battery) from lionbattery today and I have to admin it fits much better than my previous 2200mAh battery.
I'll let you know if the 'hard reset' issues re-surface (fingers crossed they won't!).
I am in hard reset hell, could it be my Lion battery? I have never dropped the unit, but the other day I dropped it directly on its face, onto my lawn. No damage whatsoever but I had a hard reset. Then yesterday I missed the car cradle and it dropped onto my center console, the battery popped out and it hard reset.
My 2200 is officially dead. No blip no nothin. I'm not sure why. I haven't really used it in about a month and it's been on the charger most of the time.
Update... I've been using the new 2400mAh (replacement for my previous 2200mAh) battery for a week and I'm happy to report I've had no hard resets this week! Woo Hoo!...
And, there is a noticeable difference is the overall battery life between the 2200 and 2400mAh batteries.
Thanks Mark (& the rest of Lion Battery) for the outstanding service!
