I need a way that will lock the screen and the keys but still leave it in the on position, for use with mp3's and ipsoftphone. I want to be able to put it in my pocket without buttons getting pressed while it is in the on possition with the screen off. Can you help me please?
I'll be honest, I never tried superdave's PhoneLock with the i-mate. Based on most of superdave's posts, I got the feeling that it was developed specifically for the i700, and I haven't really had a need for it elsewhere.
On the PDA2K, there is a Button Lock setting under START>SETTINGS>SYSTEM>BUTTON LOCK. If you select "Lock All Buttons Except Power Button", it should take care of your problem
If your MP3 is active and playing, you should be able to press the top power button to turn the screen off and lock the buttons, but keep the MP3 going.

This works great because even when I have a phone call coming in and I don't answer it, it still keeps the screen off and buttons locked all except for the answer and hangup buttons. So when you choose to anser the call it will still answer but keep the screen off and keys locked.

Does it make the screen come on during the incoming call so you can tell who is calling, then shut the screen off if you don't answer? If not, that kind of sucks for users who like to screen their calls.
While the i700 is definitely crippled by it's poor processor, the phone portion was done right. You can set the screen to turn off after being connected to a call (after 30 secs, 60 secs, etc.). Also, when the pda is off the device will wake up, showing the caller on the screen with the option to answer the call or ignore.

ChrisBrown--
What two buttons do you press to unlock the screen on your PPC? I use a Samsung i700, and there are only 3 mappable buttons. I can't find a combination that will unlock the screen. I know the PDA2K has more buttons--which ones work?
I think for now you have to have a Pocket PC with at least 4 mappable hardware buttons. It would be nice if the programmer would make it so that you only have to press the same button again that locked it to turn it back on without having to press 2 buttons. Otherwise for now you have to press hardware button 1 and 4 at the same time to unlock it.
After having the same problems as you guys (accidentially pressing the screen with my ear...) I found a good program that will turn off the screen and lock the buttons. You can find it here MortSaver. I have been working with the developer of the program to fix a few items. If you send him an email he will probably send you version 1.1 which adds a few features.
The other pogram ScreenSaver 1.1 that was mentioned earlier, works well but I found a few problems with it. If I remember right the program did not disable the talk and hangup buttons when locked.
The main reason I use this program is to keep my iPAQ h6315 powered on while the screen is off and the keys are locked.
Ok, so this program is exactly what I need on my 6315. But it's too sensitive. I have mapped it to the "RECORD" button on the left side of the device. But unless I am very quick about pressing it, the screen flashes off them back on.
Basically this means there needs to be a delay.
Does version 1.1 add a 1 second delay between when it switches off the screen and when it will detect a new push?
yes, after some conversation with the author of this great program, he changed it again a bit and now version 1.1 does solve the problem described, at least on my SPV m2000. there are currently some more changes:
- the program runs in full screen mode, so you can't accitentially press the start menu when a phone call comes in
- it locks the whole screen and doesn't even show pop-ups anymore (so you can't accidentially accept or deny a phone call, you have to unlock it first and then answer the call)
- since it's running in full-screen mode, it shows now a big clock (white-on-black) so you can simply touch any button to see how late it is..
there are some little issues that need to be done (i.e. sometimes one has to click twice the unlock button to unlock the phone when someone is calling) .. but it all looks very promising...
i would like to encurage everybody on this forum to donate some $ to the autor of the program.. he really wrote a superb application and he's working hard on it.. he told me, that he had only gotten very few donations so far and i think this app is well worth a little donation ... but that's just my opinion

It's MortSaver...
The first two issues should be solved.
I'm not sure about the 3rd. It should work fine in V1.0, too. At least if it's installed in main memory, otherwise there could be access problems on power on.
I currently don't have access to the latest beta. Maybe psuter could attach it (don't forget the MSConfig.exe ), otherwise I'll do it on Monday.
