Hey Mort. Just wanted to let you know that I have been looking for something like this for my Jam for days and when I found your app and tried it it was the answer to my dreams. now I can listen to my mp3s and not have to carry my Jam in my hand. I thank you.315. If I would have found this app a few months ago I wouldn't have gotten rid of my hp6I would like to support your work. Do you have a website I can visit?
Take care
I noticed TPDisable has a bad side effect on the Magician: It also disables all buttons (even including the power button).
As a workaround, I now disable TPDisable during the screen/device is off or while MortSaver's waiting for a second button (if a deactivation sequence is defined in the options).
This has some side effects, too, but I think it's better than nothing...
- There's a short time after power on where the touchscreen's still active
- It's also active if a deactivation sequence is used (to enable pressing the 2nd button on the Magician)
- If a wrong button was pressed, deactivation isn't possible until the countdown timed out (regards only Magician - the buttons are still active on other devices)
- The system's key lock will cause problems on Magicians if combined with power off option, since TPDisable will be activated on power on - thus, the deactivation button cannot be pressed...
Edit: A little patch: TPDisable now also stays inactive during an incoming call.
@catchamental: You can visit www.sto-helit.de, but only the pages for some PPC programs are available in English (there's a big link in the right frame). Also, programs in beta state (like MortRing, MortSaver 2.0, and MortButtons 2.1) are not available there.
Donations can be made with PayPal to mort@sto-helit.de.
I have been using MortSaver (MS) for a week or two (or three?). Please note (in my sig) that I am using a vzw xv6600woc, but am posting in this thread since my info / question refers to MortSaver which I am using, but not on a XDA III / MDA3 / PDA2K / SX66 / Qtek9090 which is the intent of the forum. Hope that's ok w/everyone. I do have a problem w/MS.
The user interface appears to deal very nicely with an incoming call. I.e., it is locked, a call comes in (PDA's in my case & it vibrates) & I can respond via the 'Answer' 'Ignore' screen, then it locks up again). Then I put it back in my case (a Bellagio vertical) which is where it stays most of the time. Have used other cases as well. Same problem (described below).
I've found it eats my battery alive. The screen's black, can only push a button to lock (another to unlock - that's good for me), but my batt is nearly exhausted by the end of the day, even when I've had few calls & little PDA action. I am using the 2200Mha battery which has consistently been more than enough for me for a day. So it appears that something is continuing to run (or something).
Unless you set the "Turn off device on activation" option in the "Power off / Emergency exit" settings, only the display is turned off.
I.e. all programs continue running (e.g., you still can listen to music), which of course causes more battery drain than a device in standby mode.
I saw the 'turn off' option & then read the FAQs / Help. My question was: If I use this option & an call comes in, will it 'wake up' to receive the call (i.e., the answer/ignore screen is there when the screen turns on?)? I didn't think to experiment (duh!) & assumed turn off meant turn off so I shouldn't use that option.
Edit: Reading your reply more carefully, it may be that I interpreted 'power off' as a power off. Perhaps you meant 'go into standby mode'? Also, is that what the power button does too? Or maybe the pwr button only turns off the pda side, but with all your registered events active (e.g., wake up on incming call in which case the OS redirects the incoming call event to you)...
An incoming call will wake up the device, and MortSaver will power off the device after the call's finished.
There is no real "power off" mode for PocketPC. This would mean the same as an empty battery, i.e. loss of all data in the main memory. Thus, "power off" and standby are synonyms in this case. In this mode, all/most peripherals (like IrDA, storage cards, on some devices BT/WLAN) are deactivated, and most processes are suspended, while the CPU's still working in its lowest speed to check for notifications, calls, etc.
Since "power button" and "power off" are more common imho, I prefererred those.

Mort, I have a new problem. I hard-reset my device a few weeks ago, did a clean install of all my progs, and now...
MortSaver will not turn the device off if GPRS is connected (it will only turn the screen off, thus draining my battery too quickly). I've done a number of tests, and confirmed that it is indeed the GPRS (as opposed to some other program) preventing power off when MortSaver is activated. I need to be connected to GPRS all the time b/c I use GoodLink push email.
Any ideas?

i've been using mortsaver without problems until i downloaded mortplayer (great app btw!), everytime i activate mortsaver while mortplayer is running, it deactivates right away. am i doing something wrong?
Using what I believe is the latest version on my SX66 and I have been seeing an issue where when its active and my Intellisync client wakes up to cake its GPRS call it will work once or twice, then every time after that I get an error message that its "disconnected" and can't make the call.
Once I exit MortSaver it works normally agian...lock it and the same thing happens.
Notifications, etc all seem to be working fine for me its just this dialing out that has me stumped....since it does this to get email, etc I could not get info for hours...

No idea. Just try it. At worst case you might need a soft reset. It's not a permanent service, so it shouldn't hurt otherwise.
But why do you need a button lock for a device which allows to put (almost?) all buttons "inside"?
****, I can't believe I've had this damn phone for 7 months now, and have forced myself to live with the damn default button lock crap, all while this beutifull prog has been here waiting for me all this time. I LOVE YOU!!!!!
i have a PPC-6700 (sprint). i normally have an IM client running all the time and so my EVDO data connection is almost always on and running. i installed mortsaver PE because when i keep the phone in my pocket it tends to call people on it's own when the buttons get pushed.
so mortsaver works great however....here is my problem. from what i can tell if i have my IM program running and the data connection (evdo) is on, when i turn off the phone (power off button. i have mort set to always start when phone is powered on), mortsaver starts and it says that i am in a call (but i am not i am using the data evdo). so now that it says i am in a call i can accidentally press the make call or hang up call buttons and call people that i don't want to.
is there a way to always have to deactive mortsaver before using a call button? or a way for it to know the difference between an always on data connection and a phone call? maybe i'm missing a setting?
Looks like you are a gig in this room and my question will be posed to you. I'm kind of new to this room and my new HP 6315....I have some problems like the phone freezing up and have to restart(soft reset) and at times i loose my contact list and the data too.....
in a brief, i purchased this phone on ebay, which was a tmobile on and installed the update found on the net to unlock it and take out the tmobile logo's(dont remember the file name)..it works really good except that the bluetooth connection is kind of weak....other than that i love 6315...
so my question now for you is, what all updates can i do to enhance my usage of 6315 a better one......like i see people doing these file like martsaver-pe.exe and so on..please guide me how to turn off the cell and turn it on again and any updates u recommend me.
Mort, first I`d like to thank you very much. Your Mort Saver is great and you`ve become my saviour. I only have a small problem. When a person calls me on my HP Ipaq 6340 and the Mort Saver is active, the screen only remains lit for a few seconds. And if I don`t have the time to see who`s calling me in those few seconds, I can`t see anything at all after that. The phone keeps calling and I can`t see who it is. Thus, I can`t decide whether to answer or not because I can`t see who is the number or person calling me.
Is there a way to keep the screen lit while the phone is calling for the entire time of the incoming call? I mean until I answer it or until it stops calling or until I choose to ignore the call. I just want to see who`s calling for more then a few seconds. That`s all.
Thank you again for your brilliant Mort Saver. And I`m sorry if my question is somehow redundant.
I have been a die hard MortSaver fan on my Samsung i730, and Cingular 8125 (Wizard), and now I have the Cingular 8525 (Hermes). MortSaver 2.0 works well, except that the enter button in the middle of the d-pad and on the slide-out keyboard deactivates the lock in addition to any assigned buttons. Do you plan to have an 8525 patch?
I start using mortsaver for a few days and i noticed that when active, when i receive a call the phone microphone is off and when I'm on a call if i activate mortsaver the call continues but the microphone goes off while still being able to listen the other speaking.
Dos any one noticed the same?
Is there a way to avoid it?
Thanks
