Oh, yeah... one other cool thing about the EB case... I can keep it in the case when in my Arkon powered PDA mount! Sweeeeeet!!! I just fold the flap back over the top and have easy access. Bonus!!

After reading these forums for awhile I think the same is true of devices. Seems like a LOT of people in here buy multiple devices just for the hell of it.
Personally, I buy one to use and I expect all the functions that are advertised for it to work accordingly. Seems in the converged world that may be asking too much yet.

Good point... and I would agree with you!
(In my case, I don't buy the devices, the company I work for pays for them and the service. I'm the guy who tests them before we try to adopt them for less technical users.)
BTW, in order to stay on topic I ordered the EB case for my pda2k today. Really wanted a custom Bellagio designs case with upgraded leather and have my company logo put on it but they don't have a clue when they might have a pda2k. From your pictures I found that the EB case look very decent and functional so it should be here tomorrow.
Back to the idea of expectations of what we buy. I keep reading in these forums about pda2k's with bluetooth issues, 6315's with serious sound quality issues etc. and there seems to be this idea that, 'well, they'll get it right soon and then it will work'. When did this become acceptable??? If we go out and buy a computer and get it home and find that the USB ports don't work we don't say, 'well, they'll get it right soon', hell no, we'd be hauling it back to the store instantly for a refund or another machine. Same with anything we buy. When we read a list of features of any type of hardware or appliance, we have a RIGHT to expect those features to work as advertised yet earlier I was mildly criticized in one of these forums for stating that. We wouldn't stand for that, expecially for a $900 piece of hardware, yet we let those resellers of OEM'ed stuff like the Harrier and others get away with it everyday and it seems to be accepted if you want bleeding edge stuff. Makes no difference to me, if you advertise these features then they sure as bloody hell better work.
Its up to us to make sure that these manufacturer's, or in the case of Carrier Devices and the I-Mate pda2k, OEM resellers hear us and know that they either make it right the first time or expect to get it back. I simply won't do this again, shell out that kind of money and then accept a device with a MAJOR feature of that device being broken.
It sounds like that Piel Frama case is for the PDA2K. Is that correct? If so, which colour is it? I might be interested in yours if it's the tan one. (Not the black and tan though.)
Also, I found a handy Java Script on the Piel Frama website which shows detailed shots of the case and how the clip works. I also noticed that the clear plastic portion is supposed to go over the keyboard, behind the screen rather than over it.
Does the PDA2k seem like it fits snugly in the case, or does it wiggle around on the top? I can't see from any of the pictures if there is anything keeping it attached other than that clear plastic cover over the keyboard.
Sorry, I have the black one.
Maybe I thought the screen went under the plastic because it does not seem to hold it very tightly if I put over the keyboard and under the screen. With it over the screen it is perfectly secure.
Not that I don't want someone to buy this one from me but I really recommend the EB case. I had it for my XDA and it great for my PDA2K.
Thanks for offering the black Piel Frama case (and your feedback on the difference between it and the EB case), but for some reason, I've just got my heart set on the tan Piel Frama case.
I ordered the navy EB case and it arrived on Friday. Turns out I ordered the wrong one (w/o clip) but I think this is a very adequate case. Not as nice as I wanted but that's a personal preference. The leather is nice quality and the case is very functional. I ordere another case yesterday (this time the right one) and it arrived today but they sent the wrong color (black) but I'm going to keep it.
Trouble is, after getting two new cases, one on Friday and the other was waiting for me when I got back today, that I got back here without my pda2k. Took my wife to the airport today up to Kansas City (about 175 miles away) and decided to stop at Sam's Club in Topeka on the way back (100 miles from where we live). When I got home I found I had no pda2k. Looked all over the car but it wasn't in there. I thought I might have left it on the roof of the car as I put stuff in the trunk leaving Sam's Club but decided to call them just in case I left it at the counter or if someone turned it in. Turns out it was there, the girl that checked out my stuff found it and put it away and was going to turn it in at the end of her shift. Good news is I still have my pda2k, bad news is I have a 200 mile roundtrip drive to get it back.

Glad to hear your PDA2k is all right... on a funny note, EB sent me the wrong color case (w/clip) - I ordered black and they sent me a navy blue case. If you want to swap, let me know. I like the navy case, but would prefer black.

and none mentioned that do what I am looking for.. I know most of you are guys, but I want either a shoulder strap or belt clipped case (preferably belt) that will double to hold cash and some extras- basically act as a wallet as well.. and still give me easy access to the phone... I may have to wait on my phones arrival and just start purse shopping, but I had a case that did this for my handheld before, but the dimensions are different.. especially with a BT headset- I'm not worrying about taking the phone out to hold it to my head because most of the time i won't need to and the rare occasions when I will, it shouldn't be that hard.. then agian I'm one of the users not planning on using the keyboard and actually wishing a phone like this existed without one!

First, welcome to the board! Now, based on what you have said, I would think a nice leather small camera case may work for you, especially if you get some accessories like a GPS or BT headset to carry with it. Most camera cases have pockets for carrying lots of stuff, so you can use one or more of the pockets for cash, cards, etc. and the others for accessories.
Thanks John.. I was thinking that either a camera bag or one of the "PDA wallets" might work, just wondered if anyone else had more specific suggestions for something that would work with this device in particular... Guess I'm out to go search.. and thanks for the welcome.
Any "clip" case from CasesOnline.com will work; BUT you're going to have difficulty using the device as a phone. I started with one of these, and quickly dropped it for their belt case with my i700. when I got my PDA2k, the CasesOnline Belt Case was too big, and the top of the device tended to slide forward slightly on me. I left that case behind for the case that came with the PDA2k.
If Vaja makes a flip case for it, you might want to try that.
Wallet cases and PDA's seem to be relations that don't speak at all. I've been looking for a good wallet case for a PDA for a while. I've also been wanting one that would work with a PDA phone, but from what I've seen, its nothing but a pipe dream...
I did a whole columnar series on The Case for the Right Case over at pocketnow.com. It was hopeless...

Thanks Christopher.. I actually think I found a purse that would work- mini purse with a pocket large enough for the 660x and maybe even a headset and a seperate organizer compartment... gonna wait till I have my device in hand to check it out for real.
I was wondering if the cases for the XDA II would work with the XDA III/PDA2K/SX66 etc. if you look at the Imate web site the dimensions are exactly the same ... now I know that if I put a case on the SX66 for example that goes on the XDA II ... then chances are I won't be able to use the keyboard without taking the phone out of the case ... I don't do much text messaging so I'm not sure I'll use the keyboard much (my sx66 should get here 1/4/05) ... I found a silicon case for the XDAII .. looks kewl so I ordered it in hopes it would work ... I also think the Vaja ivolution for the XDAII would work for me ... if it's like the one for the Treo 600 ... the phone slips easily out of it so the key board would be usable in that situation ... if anyone has had both these phones let me know if they are the same size ...

I found that the XDA II is slightly smaller than the XDA III (I have both the i-mate and the PDA2k) and I could not use the original OEM i-mate case with my PDA2k even thought they looked remarkably close. I ended up getting an EB slipper case for my PDA2k.
I had both an I-Mate and pda2k and I used my old I-Mate case for the pda2k but it was VERY tight an inconvenient and you have to remember that the cutouts would not match the buttons and camera. An I-Mate case will likely hold the pda2k it won't do it well or conveniently.
The Krusell case looks like it will give access to the keyboard. But I don't care about keyboard access as much as screen access.
I like the Krusell Classic for the XDA and XDA II. It doesn't make the device much larger and protects the corners and edges, but leaves the screen open. I hope they make a "Classic" for our devices.
