Assigning ring tones to groups/catagories
I have an O2 xda IIi. Is there a way of assigning a ring tone to a whole group/catagory or can you only assign ring tones to individuals?

You can use program such like mortring (freeware) or Ringo (Commercial). It will answer all your problem about it.
