I managed.... I have a few on my XDA2s, 1st thing I did was opened the mp3 in sound forge and cut it down in size by clipping out only the bit I wanted (e.g. only the first 30 secs).

Saved this then as a .wav file (mono)

Found the file in windows explorer and copied it to the PDA.

Then into set as ring tone and there it was.

Hope this is OK

Cheers

Yes, converting the selection in to.wav works perfectly, but be careful as the files can be large. Clipping out the section you want as suggested by MARKBAI is a very good method.

you can get software that converts mp3 to WMA and then the files are much smaller.

converting mp3 to ringtone

Suggestion - use the sound editor in Roxio CD Creator 7, open the MP3 file, select any bit of the song you want, then save as a .wma file - copy it into the rings folder in windows folder on the XDA. By seleceting only say 15-30 seconds of the song, the fils size is also small
