WModem gives "COM OPEN ERROR" when starting USB

Hi all,

I've been trying to establish a USB WModem connection between my laptop PC running XP Pro and my Qtek 9000, but as soon as I hit the start button it gives the "COM OPEN ERROR" message in the Qtek and the PC says it cannot identify the USB device. I already disabled ActiveSync and there are no Port conflicts.

When trying to do it through Bluetooth it starts OK but when dialing the dial-up session stops with the connection light on in the Qtek and attempting redialing in the PC connection.

Anyone had the same problems?

Thanx in advance!

LQP

Talking

Figured it out! Thanks to another forum (read on phone, sorry don't have the info on me)...

I had just started using a Bluetooth device which I set up as COM 8...Apparently, this is the COM port that the wireless modem tries to use!

So went to Bluetooth settings (either via CommManager or control panel) and went to COM ports...then deleted the COM port I had created for the Bluetooth device.

Now wireless modem works!

Hope this helps others...
