O2 XDA Exec will not save settings

Hi

I have recently upgraded to an o2 xda exec where there is an issue with the email client. I remember an old hp jornanda 690c that I had 4 years ago with the same issue but whilst I cannot remember how I resolved it then I am surprised it is on this new version.

I have 4 email accounts - 3*pop3, 1*hotmail that I have set up. When I decided to delete the pop accounts and set them up again as imap I have been through the set up process, they connect and download email. However sometimes when you switch accounts menu option will not allow me to switch - only display a small box about 3mmx3mm in size. If I then reset my XDA and go into the email - the new accounts I have set up have gone but the old accounts and email are still there.

O2 have said they are aware of an issue where the settings will only be deleted if reset within 3 minutes of the settings being entered. however i am experiencing when i reset 10 or 15 minutes later.

they have recommended flattening the PDA but it still occurs after this and i am loathed to flatten it again.

i know it is easy to say don't reset but sometimes this is required. i have also experienced this when setting the dial locations then performing a reset. I have searched high and low to get this resolved and cannot find anything.

its a shame M$ didn't supply a proper backup routine with their activesync 4 so i can at least keep an image with the settings i want.

Have anyone any ideas what is causing this or aware of any similar issues.

thanks,
Craig

Prior to resetting the universal. Turn off, wait 10-15 seconds and then reset. Changes to the registry are not saved immediately. They are only saved when something is changed in the system settings, device is turned off or some other changes. I have found the easiest way is to turn it off, wait a few seconds and then reset (without turning it back on first)

At least, that works for me.
