I currently use a Palm & sync contacts, databases etc. wiht the Palm desk top. I'm considering getting a smartphone. Is there there any third party software that does the same or do you have to have outlook?

Big Mistake?

I have been using Palm based smartphones for the last several years and now that I have switched to a Pocket PC device (SCH-i760) I must say I'm rather underwhelmed by the basic usability of the alarms and contacts that come with the device. I haven't had time to see what else is out there in terms of 3rd party software but I really liked the user interface of the Palm Desktop. I entered most of my personal contacts and schedules on the desktop and simply pushed a button to sync. I'm hoping I haven't made a big mistake here.

What you need to remember WM5/6 is a Microsoft product, why would Microsoft make it easy for you to sync to anything other than one of their products. I'm looking for something else to sync with also. Will post if I find something.
