I posted about this over in the Samsung i770/Saga forum, but had no luck there. I'm hoping someone here knows more about the WM SMS "database."
Numerous times, I've backed up my SMS database before a hard reset using
PIM Backup 2.8 or
Jeyo Mobile Companion 2.1. I then hard reset and restore the SMS messages (both the Inbox and Sent folders, of course). However, the SMS is not threaded when it restores. Basically, the dates and times will be all out of order, or it will be all the sent messages first, followed by all the received ones. I've tried MANY different approaches, and all have failed.
Here's the deal: SMS messages must be stored in some kind of database (PIM backup says as much when it's restoring, something like "inserting messages into the database"). There MUST be some kind of way to "refresh" the database so it automatically resorts the messages. Alternatively, is there another program that restores this properly? People claim to not have had problems with these programs, but I simply can't believe it's just my phone.
Does someone have some knowledge of the way the SMS database works, and some way to "refresh" or resort this? I have tons of SMS messages I would love to keep ordered, and this is pretty frustrating.
Any help would be VERY much appreciated. FYI, I'm running WM6.1 on a Samsung Saga/i770 with the latest ROM update (the one that unlocked GPS).
