Help!! Options for corp email sync???

Not sure where this needed to be posted, so if it needs to be moved please do..

We have a small company that does run server 2003, but chooses not to adopt the seemingly simple process of sync with our devices.

I do have a corporate email address, a vpn, and outlook on my laptop. Using a Verizon Q9m. WM6....

Are there ANY options, other than wireless sync, that will allow me to sync email and PIM without a dedicated computer running a monitor?

Second, if I set up a dedicated wireless sync machine, the vpn will constantly have to run and outlook open.... correct? If that is the case, will I be able to use the VPN on my laptop when traveling.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!

Wireless Sync Q&A

To start, I am a bit confused about your company's Exchange server policies. Do they simply not allow handheld remote access/sync, using activesync or winodows mobile device center?

If that is the case then you're kinda screwed as far a windows mobil push email.

VZW'S "Wireless Sync" isn't really wireless because you do have to keep a machine constantly running their "watcher" program. So that aucks ass.

Have you tried using actuvesync on a company machine or a machine with access to your company's intranet? Your IT department may not "officially" support handhelds, but its actually a huge pain in the ass to block them alltogether. Try activesync on your laptop with the VPN to your company's intranet. If it works you will find that once you have the WM6 device synced with all theproper certs from your company's exchange server, you do not even need that machine on for Windows Mobile Activesyc to get your email, calendar etc etc.

IF that doesn't work at all (you may have to google a bit to get it running properly), then I suggest you set up a googlesync through outlook. You can sync your contacts and caendar. Then have Outlook autoforward your mail to the same gmail account you synched outlook to. You will have to keep that machine running, but you will be restriction free when on the road.

Report back on the activesync effort. Then I can help a little more knowing what you can and cannot do.

Best of luck.
