I'm an idiot, but......

what the heck is the soft reset vs the hard reset?

how do I accomplish either one of these?

I just got the ppc-6700 and feel like i'm starting new with technology. I'm a tech dork in all other realms except for pda phones....until soon hopefuly. Thanks ahead of time for your help.

help

Hi, welcome to the forum. Hopefully we can help.

Soft Reset: Kinda of like a PC reboot. (Usually done via a small recessed button on the pda someone on the bottom, side or top. About the size of a paperclip hole) A soft reboot is the pda rebooting itself without losing any data or configuration settings on the pda.

Hard Reset: Usually done via some combination of the power button, soft reset and some pda buttons. This clears the pda back to an "Out of the Box" state where all data, settings and programs loaded since it was taken out of the box are gone. There is a new "persistant storage" area on some devices such as the Samsung I730 that is not cleared by a hard reset, kinda like data on a seperate secure digital card inside th device.

Anyway, thats a good base for you to start your own research.

Happy searching.
