Hello

Hello everyone. I am a new Samsung i700 user. I like the phone very much but I am still researching its capabilities and limitations. I found the user manual nearly useless. I am in the process of reading previous forum posts, but have three days left to decide whether or not to keep it.

So far my issues with the i700 are: Difficulty of one-handed use, memory issues, and data speed even with Verizon’s express network. I would like to hear any thoughts on these issues.

About me: I am a private investigator and a former newspaper reporter. I am married with two daughters 19 and 21. I have a four-computer network at the office which I maintain myself. With desktops I would rate my skills as intermediate. I have no experience with smart phones or PDAs.

Thanks for letting me join this forum.

Welcome to the pdaphonehome forum. I'm not a i700 user but there are a lot of people here who are and they are very very helpful. They can help you with about anything or direct you to where you can find the information.

Again welcome to the forum.

Yes I kept the device and think it's the greatest thing since the martini shaker. Here's what I have done about the issuess I mentioned:

First and most important: Joined this forum!

2. Memory: Added a 512K storage card and loaded nearly everything onto that.

3. One hand use: Added two of superdave's apps (the multi-button and the popup killer); added voice recognition (awesome) and purchased a top-of-the-line headset with on/off control for use in my vehicle. Learned how to activate and use the speaker phone.

I also had reservations about buying the i7 at this time because I suspected Samsung was close to releasing a version with video. This forum solved that worry for me also. In my work, the video feature is invaluable.

I am grateful for this forum. I found the manual almost useless. At the Vzn store where I purchased the i700 I had to show the salesman how to turn the backlight on/off. He was a nice guy and could talk all day about most phones, but was pretty much totally over his head about this unit. During the last six months, he said, his store had only sold two units (that's fresno for you).

I'd also like to mention the (bad english coming up) user friendlyness of those in this forum. Beyond awesome.

Bottom line: I'm in.

Oh! I almost forgot the most important thing.

This forum inspired me to play around with ringers. I converted a piece of the original midi "Peter Gunn" theme into a wav file and loaded it into my ringer. Whoa! Now I'm livin!
