Moved from 6700 to 755p

Made the switch two weeks ago when Sprint informed me that my 6700
was unfixable and would be replaced. They wanted to give me a 700wx phone.
After raising hell, they gave me a 755p. It has been a smooth easy transition.
The one thing you must do is get pdanet for Dial up networking.

Only problems so far are slingbox and the inability to easily remove files in memory.Phone has been very stable. Email, hotsynch and browser are bulletproof. Never used wifi on the 6700 because of the dun feature.

Go for it!

I will be doing the same thing when Verizon comes out with the 755p.

Moving from the Kyocera 7135 [also Palm based] to the 6700 was rather painful. I expect the transition to the 755p to be infinitely smoother.

im not worried about the technology or learning it

In more intrested in does the 755p jam up or miss calls like the 6700. also how much louder is the 755p from the 6700, like with the ringer and the call volume?

Ringer is loud. Speaker phone is clear, call quality is great. It was a real pain to leave windows for Palm os. Now it is second nature. Thiu s is really a very good product. Just wish I could find a nice case. Still using my factory issue
6700 case. You won't be sorry for making the move.

I had a 6700 and switched back to Palm with a 700p and now got the 755p. It wasn't hard. Biggest withdraw for me was the software investment I had made but the PalmOS software available made up for it. The second one was the widescreen for watching videos.

Besides that never looked back.

thanks for the advice

i had the store order it 10 business days ago and still no calls i asked because i could just tell them i changed my mind then if the 755p was bad. i think ill stick with the 755p then. even though the 6800 looks attractive it still looks to have problems. thanks much.

I made the switch several weeks ago, I really like the 755p much more, except the non-multitasking takes getting used to and so do some of the Palm OS quirks, but so far I love it ( except for one problem I having syncing with exchange server where the phone will not stop prompting me to press the sync button, but this does not seem to be a common issue because I have seen no one else complain about this).

Smile An update on the755p

Just an update. I followed the advice on here after trying the HTC Mogul. WHAT A DIFFERENCE AN OS MAKES! The Treo rarly jams, if it does it automatically reboots, it doesnt just sit there and miss phone calls.

Its also a hundred times louder than the 6700 or the 6800. From what i'v read Windows Mobile is to unstable to actually handel the call audio. It is just controlling the phone part using AT modem commands, come on Microsoft leave those in hyperterminal not in my pocket. I bring this up because i use a program called RecorderX to record all my phone call. And yes it records both sides of the conversation with out using the speaker phone.

I am very glad with my Palm OS 755P (blue) choice. Windows Mobile will need to come a LONG way before I even consider it for my next phone.

I switched a week ago. I like the Treo, the phone app is easy to navigate with one hand, and the speaker phone is very nice. I do miss a few things mainly from the Pocket PC software. First thing is the Palm software does not read .pwi files, so if you used the notepad to write handwritten notes while in a call, those files are now useless (Palm's website states these files are not compatible).

Second is the Documents to go app seems slower than the native Word and Excel ones in the Pocket PC.

Also related is its not clear on how to sync Documents. If you use Outlook all your contacts, notes (except .pwi), calendar, todo will sync, however you need to use the Palm Desktop to load pictures.

On the plus side, the Treo uses minisd cards, seems to be better built that the 6700 and has better integrated email and sms. Google maps is nice as is the included mp3 software.

I had a Treo 650, then got a xv6700. Now, a few months later, I switched back to my 650.

I was wondering, does "everyone" think it is the OS, rather than the hardware, that causes problems? Like if it got a 700WX, I would have the same lockups, short battery life, sloooowness, bluetooth hassles, like on the 6700? (does the 700WX have threaded txt messaging?)

I do like the Treo hardware better than the HTC stuff. The slide out keyboard got really annoying (I do a lot of txt'ing with work). Though, I do miss wi-fi.
