Unfortunately it isn't coming today (July 4th). Last I heard from other forums is it failed testing and now it looks like August or September. I also talked to a rep last night that said the 700P is being phased out. So IF Verizon decides not to sell the 755P, the 700P could well be the last Palm device we see on VZW for a long time. I myself would like to try to wait it out, but if we find out in September it has been dropped, I don't think there will be any more 700Ps to be had.

Well that settles it... moving to Sprint... price for the phone and service is less and the coverage in this area is better. Sprint also offers the sprint tv, navigation, music as part of a data plan.
I'm actually going to be waiting it out, too. I really have my heart set on the form factor of the 755P. It will be a sad day when I return the Treo I'm testing right now, but Sprint coverage in my area just isn't as good as Verizon. I hope Verizon sticks with it. My biggest concern at this point is that they bag it altogether if it can't get beyond the "testing" concerns.
Well, I made the move yesterday! So far I am very happy with the Sprint service and coverage (yea, ok it's only been a day). The signal strength is greater at home, in the office and along the way than Verizon. That was not something I expected since Verizon has such a large network.
My main reason for the move was all the services I receive with their $25 unlimited data plan. It's more than just simple downloading and e-mail, it includes the Sprint TV, Sprint Radio, and navigation. So less money, more options/features. It's possible that when Verizon comes out with the 755 they will include the vcast features and bundle that into unlimited data.
Who knows... in 2 years when the 855p running the Linux kernel comes out on Verizon I will move back.

Bear,
Is there a special link or process to get the $25 unlimited plan? Through the web site it appears as $59.99 for the unlimited data plan. I have had a Verizon Kyocera 7135 for slightly over 4 years that has recently gotten way too flaky for even my standards, and I've been thinking of upgrading. I like the look of the 755 over the 750 and in lurking through these forums I see less stability complaints with the 755. I'm leaning toward Verizon since the reception is good in the DC metro regions I frequent, better than Sprint used to be five years ago. If Verizon was going to release the 755 soon, I'd probably just jump at it, but as it stands I'm on the fence.

Sprint offers "power vision" plans that support the 755. From $15 a month you get unlimited data (expect using your phone as a modem) and the prices go to $25 (phone as a modem is $39). I'm not sure where you are seeing the $59 plan, just not an option with Sprint (not in my area). Now this cost does not include the voice support, but last time I checked neither did the plan from Verizon.
Well, when I navigate to the Sprint site, and go to their "Plans" section, and check the "Data" button (after putting my zip code which is between the Baltimore/DC area) I see three major selections:
Mobile Broadband Connection Plans
BlackBerry Unlimited Email and Web - Walkie-Talkie
BlackBerry 10MB Email and Web - Walkie-Talkie
Under "Mobile Broadband Connection Plans" I see a $39.99 40 MB Monthly Usage plan and a $59.99 Unlimited Monthly Usage plan. Is this what you mean as a "phone as a modem" plan?

That plan you are looking at is the modem card plans, not what I have. I'm guessing that they don't think you will consume as much bandwidth if you are using your phone to surf, email, whatever. Start by selecting the phone then add the services to the phone depending on what you want. Just verified the charges on my phone service, phone service... 39.95, Power Vision Ultimate 25.00. So far so good.
True the date is set for Nov, nothing too official about the first yet though...
Edit: Although the date for the i760 is correct, well for b2b and web, the retail launch for the i760 is 11/02/07, so i would expect the retail launch for the 755p to be a couple weeks after b2b and web also...
I'm right there with you, MTinari... I got an i760 on Friday, and messed with it all weekend. I HATE IT.
I have been a longtime Palm user, starting with the Pilot 5000 many years ago, visor, couple more I've forgotten, Kyocera 6035, the beloved and much missed 7135, and now a 650 that's slowly dying. I finally decided to bite the bullet and try a windows mobile phone... on Friday I picked up a Samsung i760, King of WM6.
I HATE IT. I _want_ to like it. Wifi is really nice. When IE doesn't lock up and force a softboot, that is. The phone works, it's much clearer than my 650 (from other people's perspective, guess the mic is better.) The screen is really nice, very clear and very sharp.
But. WM6 is slow. Turning the phone on isn't instantaneous like my 650. There's a delay of about a second before you can start using it, and it's annoying. The power button is in a crappy place, too. Doing ANYTHING in it requires multiple presses, lots of OK screens. It's driving me crazy. When you select something (in multiple apps I have this issue) it takes it into the edit screen, rather than just selecting it, ie. the tasks list. The calendar takes three lines per item. I HATE IT.
I really wanted to like it. It's "sexy."
I just wish the 755p had WIFI... but I'll take the missing functionality over the brain hemorrhage the 760 is giving me... My 650 is alive again!
So, where do I sign up for the waiting list for the 755p?
Yes, Im so glad Im not the only one. I currently have a treo 700 but Ive tried the Mogula and the i760. They just dont compare with the treo. I have had windows mobile for as long as I can remember but was thinking of trying the Palm OS with the 755p. Anyone have any comments about Palm OS vs. Windows Mobile?
