I went back through the setup and found that I had missed a setup step on the Thinkpad. It is puzzling that it worked once however. You need to basically setup a virtual com port on the desktop/laptop and then assign that port to Hotsync's Local option. The com ports were already there but the wrong com port number was identified in Hotsync. If this happens to you, you need to click on the tray icon for Hotsync, then go into Setup, and then make a change in the Local tab to the com port. It must match an available virtual com port that you've setup in your Bluetooth configuration on the desktop/laptop.
