When I press the phone/talk button it brings up a list of recent called phone numbers. Is there a way to erase that list?

Try:

Call Log/Menu/Delete All Calls

go into file explorer and the go in to my device scroll all the way down until you see palmvol highlight and hold until the button come up and you will see delete
