spyware / virus protection

is windows mobile as susceptible to these kinds of threats as all other windows versions?

if so, what actions should be taken to prevent infecting your Treo 700W?

There hasn't been many viruses, or spyware other than proof of concept type stuff that I can count on one hand. Other than that, yes, you could pass something on as an attachment ot a person if you forward an email to a system that is succeptable, but otherwise, so far, its not worth the overhead to run something on your handheld. Just make sure your desktop running activesync is protected and you should be golden.

PS. This isn't to say someone wouldn't write something that wipes your phone in the future....

It is certainly possible, but not very probable at this point. It's a matter of risk management... is it worth it to install a virus scanner on a device that nobody seems to care about?

Does the same still hold true 2 1/2 years later?

Or has someone been affected lately?
