Playing music with screen off!

I can only play music with the screen on-when i press power/end button screen turns off and disables the sound though it is still playing in the background. Does same with backlight feature as well. I would like to be able to listen to music without having the screen on and not worry about buttons being pushed while in it's case or in my pocket.

thanx in advance

Good call. We need to update the FAQ page and this is a good place to start.

I was looking for a way to do this as well. I tried starting another app and then did the screen lock. No luck.

Use MortSaver when listening to music and want your screen to be turned off...

Send a message via AIM to Big Calhoun

I wonder if that will work with calls also. I was a little surprised this weekend when I went to make a call, hit the power button to turn off the screen (so I thought) and the call dropped too. Oh well.

You can listen to music with the screen off....you just have to assign a button to screen toggle...

Hit the Menu key in Media Player, then go to >Options

Scroll the the right until you get to the BUTTONS tab. Scroll to the bottom of the list, and you should see "TOGGLE SCREEN"....

Assign a button for this, and when you press that button, it will turn off the screen, but leave the player on...

Now as for phone calls....I still trying to figure that one out myself!

That's a great tip about assigning the screen toggle button! Nice!!! However, regarding turning the screen off during calls, I have a PPC-6700, and I can just press the power button once during a call and the screen will turn off without the call being dropped. It seems that the power button control the PDA functions, but not the phone functions. Is it different on the Treo 700?

.. but doesn't that leave keyboard backlight ON while the screen backlight is gone? at least that's what's happening on my 700
