Please use this thread to put information on the Bluetooth devcices you find that work.
There are a lot of Bluetooth headsets out there and the Treo 700w is BT 1.1 and 1.2 compatible so it comes down to individual preference, form and function.
Headsets:
Motorola Headsets, I currently have the HS810 and wil be upgrading to the HS700.
Hands Free Kits (HFK)
I opted for the IHF1000 BT HFK and hope to put together something soon on its overall performance, I can say it works well.
Verizon does offer a variety of headsets on their site.
GPS BT Options:
I know that TomTom does work on 240*240 devices since I had the hw6515 the first 240*240 device. They also now support WM5 so I have a request into them regarding the Treo 700w and support.
It is supposed to support the HandsFree but its really up to BMW to include it. Only one way to find out, stop into my local BMW dealer and kick some tires.
No luck on bluetooth. I believe my bluetooth module is the -993 module, which is one of the newer part numbers.
The phone finds the car, but will not connect.
I have done a hard reset and plan to try again today.
If I cannot get it to connect with the X5, I'll very likely be sending this puppy back.
You may have a different experience if you have a different bluetooth module in your vehicle. Last time I checked, I think there are 7 different modules in these cars.
The HF850 kit is on back order so I canceled it and will be getting the IHF1000 installed instead, a bit more but I am having some other work inside my car done, sooo its worth it.
I paired and used my 2004 Acura TL. With exception of signal strength and battery on the cars display, the HandsFreeLink worked flawlessly.
If Bluetooth is turned on the 700W when you leave the car and then return, it will reconnect as it should on it's own. I mention this because on my XV6600 this was one issue of many with that phone.
I will caution all, this was after only one day of use
1. Won't work with the BMW. Finds the car but cannot connect.
2. MS Voice Command, which seems great on the handset, won't work via the Bluetooth headset.
I could live with #1, but combined they are a deal killer. This sucks because otherwise I really like the phone.
My Nokia 6682 (Cingular) works with the BMW pretty well, no problem connecting and making or receiving calls. And, the Nokia includes a version of VoiceSignal that works via the Bluetooth headset. You have to activate the program via the handset (1-click), but at least you can say the names and receive confirmation via the headset. I think I paid $14.95 for the license, but it has been well worth it.
I wanted to move back to Verizon for a better quality signal, but that move will just have to wait.....maybe the "Q" will get the job done.
I was able to get this paired with my BMW. I had to return the other one for a new one. This one paired just fine and imported the 2 numbers on my phone.... Voicemail and 411. I will add my main phonebook and see if it can sync with that.
I was also able to use the phone option on the NAV to call my wife and it picked up on the speaker sytem just fine.

I was finally able to pair the device with the car, but only after deleting my headset from the list of devices.
Making/receiving calls from the car was very erratic. I could typically connect, but not hold the call for more than 30-45 seconds before it reverted to the handset. The two speed dials did transfer on my phone as well.
Please let me know if you are able to make or receive a call and hold it firmly in the car for a minute or longer. I'd also like to know if the process is consistent. In my case, it was not. Finally, do you have any other devices, such as a headset, listed as authorized?
We may also have different Bluetooth/Assist modules. Mine is the 2nd generation part, ending with -114, which includes voice command for the phone only.

Thanks.
I have not had much of a chance to play with it yet, but I think you are right that it can be a bit eratic. I had to do a hard reset on my Treo and now when I went to pair with the car, it paired but I could not make a call. I also notice that it did not transfer my contacts except for the 2 mentioned. I guess I need to see what is the difference the car sees with those two compared to the ohers numbers. How can I see which module I have in my car? When I did make a call previously, it did hold for the entire duration of the call.
If you look on the card where you found the bluetooth passkey for the car, I think you'll find it on there. Mine had a sticker and the top number is the part number. My original unit ended with "993", but my TCU was replaced with a newer unit that ends with "114". There is 3rd generation unit that ends with "056", so you should have one of these 3.
My vehicle would initially find the phone, but not connect. Then, after a hard reset and deleting the headset, it would both find and connect. I think it only transfers the speed dials, rather than the entire address book. That works fine for me, as I don't want my entire contact database in the car.
Can you please report back what they tell you about the Tom Tom Go 700? I'm considering buying both and so far no one can answer whether it will work, and whether or not the 700w contact list will work with the Go 700.
1. The bluetooth activesync connection works fine for me. Once this is set up and working the only drawback is the speed of the bluetooth sync which can take 2 or 3 times longer than USB. Other than the slower speed, it should do everything a USB sync would be able to do just fine.
TIP given to me by the VzW tech: If you have a problem doing a USB sync once the bluetooth sync is working then on your PC go to Activesync, connection settings and try unchecking the "Allow connections to one of the following:" so that USB is the only one checked as an allowed connection.
2. I bought a Motorola HS850 bluetooth headset at my local VzW store (99.99, ouch!) on the recommendation of someone working there that has used all of them and said this one was the best. So far I am very pleased with the HS850! It is very comfortable to wear and you can forget you even have it on. The sound quality is pretty good. I usually have the volume turned up all the way even though it's a little loud just to make sure I can hear in a noisy environment. I can hear the other caller just fine while in a car and they can hear me. Last night I called my dad, who is hard of hearing, and he could not tell a difference and he heard me just fine. It's rated for 8 hours talk time and 200 hours standby. However it will last even longer because it has one of those flip-mic things where you can flip it closed to turn it off all together. I usually leave it turned on and on my ear if I'm in a situation where I want to answer without touching the phone. If you are having a problem with another bluetooth headset on your 700w I would recommend the HS850 for a tryout.
3. I have an HP Photosmart 2610 multifunction printer and I plugged in a bluetooth adapter to it via the USB port it has. Now I can easily print pictures directly from the 700w. The bluetooth connection to the printer will only allow the printing of photos (I think this is a limitation of the bluetooth capabilities of the printer) so I still need to sync any other type of file and print them from the PC. The photo printing works great from the 700w however.

The HS810 and H500 headsets by Motorola work beautifully with this device.
The Socket BT GPS unit paired OK but I haven't had a chance to see if it actually works.
No connectivity with my Socket CF BlueTooth adapter and the Treo 700. I'm trying to see what version of BT the card uses (1.1 or 1.2). I was able to pair and BlueSoliel sees the device...service discovery attempts fail.
Interetingly enough, when I did pair the Treo with my lappie, I got a notification that DUN was available on the device and do I want to setup a connection. So I chose Yes. It created an icon and I filled out the dial-in info, but with no connectivity between the two devices, I can't tell if it would actually work.
