Should I be flattered that this is pretty much exactly what is here and pretty much app for app in sequence, but with some missing.

i just bought the xsccaler from http://www.immiersoft.com/contact.htm it works great - can scale the cpu to 520 MHz and can finally watch videos without freezes!!! it alos has an auto scaler feature which slows down the Processor when its not doing anything and speeds it up when its busy. i'm hoping this will save even more battery life

XCPUScalar

I have been using this program for several weeks now. I'd love to hear your response after you try for a while but I have certainly found no increase in battery life if the settings are such that the upscaling does any good.
the other problem i have found is that when memory lowers during regular usage the scalar seems to stop working or at the very least in the displaying of an upscaling of the processor.

so the program works but with some potential drawbacks having nothing to do with the screen size (in keeping with the purpose of this thread)

did you contact the developer with these problems? They seem to be very receptive - their address is : ImmierSoft [support@immiersoft.com]

I use XCPUscalar all the time and do not find any of those issues, but I also soft reset to keep my memory levels up to 13-14MB all day so that may be why I don't have issues.

Launchcast on WM5

Has anyone been able to get Yahoo's Launcast subscription streaming radio service to work on the 700?

I just picked up Destinator PN 5.1.190 from them for a review and while it fits in a 240x240 screen, it still has a virtual keyboard that takes up half the screen and crushes the left-side's frames when selecting an address, etc.

Is there a way to fix that or tell the software that I have a hardware keyboard and don't need an on-screen one?

Also, I couldn't get the TTS function to work at all, since trying to install everything to the SD card... Does the TTS add-on require to be in Main Memory?

I also have a couple application issues that need to be addressed...

OmniGSoft 3D Games and Astraware Games crush the 240x320 game screen into something that neither fills in the width or height of the 240x240 screen, leaving a big black border around the bottom and sides of the image. Not exactly what I call 240x240 Ready or compatible. Same goes for Mobile Stream's Jigsaw or Meteor.

I have 4Pockets Audio Box Micro Composer and Madden NFL 2006 and both squeeze the 320 vertical into 240 while keeping the width, and the touch-screen works properly. Some games will crush it the same way, but the touch-screen sensitivity is totally off.

Anyone else getting these kinds of issues on their 700w?

Anyone tried "AE Button Plus for Windows Mobile"? I'm wondering if it safe on the Treo, and secondly if it has the ability to remap keys on the keyboard by holding them down, similar to speeddial effect?

Thread is updated and I moved Destinator to the apps with problems section and added Raphael143 apps as well.

I am going to work on updating the software list this weekend with information from software sites and other threads I visit to insure we have the best info out there. Credit will be given where credit is due.

If you have a new app or an app you have used previously that isn't on the list please post it here so we can get it updated.

Thanks.

question on compatability

I switched from the xv6600 to the 700w... some of the apps and games I had on the 6600 are listed on here as compatible, but when I install them on the 700w the bottom of the screen chops them off...(yes I know the screen is smaller) my question is: are you saying there is a version released that is 240X240 ready or that the existing one for Pocket PC scales for both?

One program I enjoyed that doesn't have a home or support is that IPOD clone...pPod or something like that... I loved that one..but the screen is not functional anymore...

Some developers have different version for the 240x240 apps so you may need to check their site. List the apps you are running into trouble with and we will see what we can do to help.

Astraware said back in January that they would have 240x240 (non scaled) versions of their games out this year. The year isn't over yet, but the only true 240x240 games they have out are Sudoku. I use StyleTap and the PalmOS 160x160 versions of these games:

Astro Defence
BookWorm
Bzzz!
Insaniquarium
Seven Seas

because the 160x160 versions in Styletap are much more playable / look better than the 240x240 "scaled" versions.
