After running a MemMaid clean-up Voice Command no longer worked as it was missing important files. MemMaid wiped these out, and after 3 hard resets and re-installing MemMaid just to make sure that was what was causing it I'm fed up. I hope I can find a cleaning application. It sounds like Pocket Mechanic had some similar issues for others as well.
Space Reclaimer by Valksoft: http://www.valksoft.com

Works great and much smaller footprint than MemMaid.

I will be working on updating the original list this weekend. Also as noted above space reclaimer works very well and they have a new version 2.5.4 which does work much better on the Treo.

When you loaded Pocket Informant 2005, did you loose any of the today screen search ability and functionality of the MS package that came with the 700w? I have the upgrade, but don't want to loose all of the cool features that came with the phone.

dmarotti - I did not lose any today functions as a result of installing PI 2005. I did have that problem with some other software, so I removed it, reset and everything returned to normal.

Visual Guitar Tuner (Freeware)

While not converted to 240x240 the app works fine:

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/pocketpc/vguitar.gif.html

If you need a quick & easy guitar tuner, this works great. While the 240x240 screen cuts off the 5th fret, you can click "E2, B2, E3", etc to get the open string note.

Very handy if you are on the go and need to tune up.

MemMaid

Post #99 talks about MemMaid trashing Voice Command. I also found that out the hard way. Question: can MemMaid be used at all without problems? Space Reclaimer seems to be working fine, but MemMaid allows you to move the PIE cache to the expansion card. Space Reclaimer doesn't have this feature. Could MemMaid be installed, used to make a few tweaks (but NO cleanup), then uninstalled, without breaking Voice Command?

Apps and Hacks

The Treo 700W is nice, but suffers from the lack of some features in Windows Mobile 5. Of course that leaves the door open for third-party developers. Calendar needs some "help". I use the stock calendar on my Axim X30, so I haven't evaluated the calendar replacement programs. If you choose to "snooze" an alarm item on the Treo, your choices are 5 minutes, 15 minutes, one hour, or one day. Is there a plug-in/patch/program that allows more options? Hopefully something with a small memory footprint!

Another issue: several of my Word docs are more usable at 75% zoom level instead of the default 100%. Is there a way to make 75% the default, or better yet, assign a zoom level to each Word document. It's silly and wastes time to have to open the document, select View, then the zoom level each and every time you open a document.

In talking above about MemMaid vs SpaceReclaimer -- the PIE cache can be changed over to the SD card with a simple registry edit so you don't need MemMaid just tochamge the cache

What is the distance? Have you tried it? The web-site says that for some Treo's it is underpowered - 1 to 3 meters while the others are 5 plus meters.

Because this is a FAQ type thread, I'll direct you to the thread talking about IR software for square screen devices.

To answer your question though, I haven't tried it, (just downloaded it today). I'll post my results in the other thread.

Info2go works rather well. It can use a little work to be prettier on the 240X240 screen but you don't miss anything. They recently upgraded to V3 to fix some issues and add requested functionality.

PhoneAlarm v1.30.01 is now available, downloaded it just a little while ago, seems to work good.
Note:
Alert tones are touchy.... certain types work, others don't, it is documented in there support forum.

That's because the Treo 700W uses MIDI files for sounds and PhoneAlarm doesn't recognize MIDI files yet. PhoneAlarm will only work with WAV, MP3, and WMA files. The Treo does come with some WMA files already. Just use these for the PhoneAlarm alerts.

FYI - Sprite Backup beta for WM5 has expired and the new version is announced to be released on February 7. If you have been using it, you can't backup or restore until it comes out as the beta version doesn't work any longer.

I'm irritated with Sprite. They could have just extended the beta. Instead they leave their customers exposed. This is a good opportunity to try on Sunnysoft which appears to work. It is slower but it works.

Update on Monopoly:
The new version supports the square screen.

Agreed... Sprite kinda dropped the ball on this. Looks like no more changes until I can get a reliable backup. Ugh...

My allegience is with the program that can restore me when things go bad. I've already left Sprite behind and bought SunnySoft. I backup at least weekly and am I'm very happy. I agree. I used to have Sprite on my Samsung i700 and was happy with it. But in this business, if you can't be there on time for changing technology, you done.
