As mentioned in several other of my recent posts, I've bitten the bullet, and got a VZW Treo 700WX to replace my old XV6600. Now of course, comes the fun of reinstalling all my apps onto the new device. I'm sure that I can't just take the versions I have and install them on my new device--most of them were written before WM5 was released, so I assume upgrades have been made available. Do most developers allow purchasers to upgrade for free in perpetuity? If not, do they have some reasonable, less-than-full-price, "upgrade rate" available?
In particular, I'm concerned about Tweaks2K, NetFront, Spb PocketPlus (to a lesser extent, some of the other Spb apps) and the software to support the Socket Wi-Fi card. I'm a registered user of all of these, but it's been over two years since the purchases, so was wondering how I might make out, if I just try to d/l the (presumed) newer versions, with the old reg codes.
This device is so radically different from the 6600, it's like learning a whole new UI and OS from scratch. Hooboy....
Most apps have codes that are transferable. You can usually use the same code. Some charge to upgrade. There are some apps that are hardware dependent which require you to have a new code or a reset code. (I really hate that.) Slingplayer and Info2go are two such apps.
I'd download the latest versions of the apps -- checking for WM5 versions -- and try to use my reg codes.
I went from a 6600 to a 700w and now have a 700wx. If you are going from a 6600 to a 700wx, it is less painful since you won't have to skinny down your memory requirements.

QMail only works if you don't have to configure it. Since I previously configured on my XV6600, it worked for me. If you don't have PPC to use to configure it, it will not work for you.
Therefore, QMail is NOT compatible for square screen devices.
I've just "upgraded" from a samsung i730 to a 700w (busted the i730). One of the MAIN programs I used on the i730 was SPB Finance, and I was happy to see that once installed on my 700w, it worked perfectly.
If this is in the wrong thread, can a mod please move it to the appropriate thread where someone can help.
Can someone point me to the right place to download today screens for the Treo 700Wx. I used to have several different color themes that I downloaded back in 2007 but I think I deleted them and well I restored my phone and I don't have them anymore. I'm looking for either a dark gray or a black, maybe an occasional dark blue. Thanks in advance.
Okay guys never mind about the today screen, I found a black version for it. Though I remember there was someone here doing a special dialer that was all black, can someone link me to that thread or to where I can get it. I think last time, he was charging for it, but this was a long while back.
