Actually, even though I am looking forward to the camera on whichever device I end up buying I am more concerned about work use. I will be changing jobs soon and it would be a major bummer if my new "out of trial period" camera phone is now not allowed in my workplace due to security reasons.
I really don't see all the hype on the cameras on the phones today. They are meant for quick simple pics and not high end photo's. I only get the camera phone versions for the resale end not the camera end.

Agreed. I think the camera should be left as a little icing on the specs, not as a replacement for a read digital camera. They barely made a phone/pda converged device that runs well, let alone getting a professional quality camera into the package. I think people put FAR to great a point on the camera when the "focus" should be on the pda/voice intergration and stability. Frankly, I'm sick to death of hearing about disapointment in camera specs on phones that are geared to mobile data professionals, many of whom work in non-camera allowed areas.
Another thing to conisder is once you have combined a device with excellent pda/voice function, add an 8 megapixel camera with professional grade flash and lenses, you are going to have a deivce with a sticker price of $1500 bux. The I730 is a good example. $700 retail and no camera! Imagine putting $500 or more worth of camera into it. I'm sure people who are looking for a camera replacment would be happy to pay for it, but I don't need a camera and not willing to pay several hundred dollars more for a converged device with a high end camera.
Wanting a pda/phone combo makes sense because for professionals, they go hand in hand. I don't think the camera falls into that category. It's like complaining that the gaming is ok but not like as good as an XBox. You don't buy a smartphone for high end gaming so why expect high end photography? I am not saying it's not useful, or fun. I just don't believe it desevers the criticism that the pda/phone does. Focusing on the camera portion is no more important than the "gaming" for the business professional.

The camera is nothing to right home about. I like the 6700 camera better, even though it may be the same hardware. I like the UI and software interface on the 6700. They are both manufactured by HTC with probably the same drivers, however, for the first time OEM and 3rd party developer's have access and can build there own camera Apps accessing the exposed WM 5 APIs.
