Wil
Thanks for the reply. I think I'm going to purchase both the Nutshell & the FlexSkin. I can see using both or either separately depending on the situation. For 2 years I carried a phone in one pocket and my PDA brick in another. Add that to a wallet and fist full of keys. I'm bent on emptying as many pockets as possible. My wallet is now as small as possible (only a couple of credit cards). Most of my keys are off the ring. They live in my car's glove box. As far as geekyness goes, the Treo on my hip is not gonna make a dent. At 55 years old, in a young person's world, there are just too many issues - I look geeky from a distance, before anybody could see the Treo.
Anyway, thanks Wil for you view

Its all about what your use to. I am use to the size of my Nutshell so dont think a slightly bigger skinned treo in a Nutshell would be to big for me, but I just dont think it possible, that since the Nutshells collapses flat, that a skinner treo would slide in and out easily. It looks like the Seidio pouch holds its shape open so the phone would go in and out easily.
The good:
1) The skin is cut out very professionally. Treocentrals silicon skins look as if someone cut them out with a steak knife.
2) I think it’s a plus that the skin covers the SD slot, I’m always afraid of losing my SD card.
3) The skin also covers the ear piece without diminishing volume while protecting from scratches.
4) The holster holds the phone securely. I tried to bump and shake it out but it stayed in well.
5) On the hip the Speck is not as low profile as a Nutshell, Codi Sport, Seidio or Krusell but it is still of a lower profile than those big lock release swivels.
6) It is easy to place and remove the phone in the skin.
7) The skin is made out of Kraton instead of silicon so its less grippy and will slide in and out of pockets or pouch cases more easily. (This of course is a draw back if want a very grippy phone).
8 ) The swivel on the holster is a tight ratchet so the phone will stay at the angle you leave it.
9) The cut out for the keyboard gives enough room to type easily.
The bad:
1) The plastic flip cover is easily scratched and scuff, 30 minutes of use showed a half dozen scuff marks.
2) The hard plastic cover falls off easily because the skin is not skin tight so it shifts and drops the cover.
3) Many will complain that the SD and IR ports are blocked.
4) It is very difficult to push the 5-way and the other hard buttons near the 5 way. The OK button and the power/screen are easier to push but man, Speck needs to buy a silicon skin and copy the "over the button" design since silicon skin do not hinder button presses in any way.
5) The Speck is not al low profile as the Seidios swivel. Speck also need to buy a Seidio and copy the swivel design.
6) It is not a easy maneuver to place and remove the phone from the holster because it is a top release latch with little to press on. (But I know many prefer these top release latches that load bottom first)
7) Kraton is less grippy than silicon, but still more grippy than no skin at all.
8 ) You can not use the phone faced out in the holster because the bottom buttons are covered.
9) The backboard of the case is to narrow so it easily presses right into the screen while sitting in a snug seat or any time the phone gets pressed a bit while in the holster.
This flip plastic screen is a complete joke, falls off easily, difficult to close, probably would break easily and send a shard of plastic right in to the screen.

JPW since you don't use bluetooth, what wired earpiece do you use and how do you store it when it's not in your ear?
I know you don't use a bluetooth earpiece but I got one because I'm new to this and thought, well, that's bluetooth is what everybody gets with a new cell phone especially an expensive phone but now that I have my earpiece it looks and seems almost as a butterfly well a hard plastic butterfly maybe, but still and, while it comes with a clip that hooks to a belt, the clip wouldn't h old up to 15 minutes dancing it's pure office use not active use so my question is, what do you guys use for a headphone case?

Hey James, I am one of Verizon's customers that will soon have a brand new 650 "toy" to play with, I have been following your post on this case subject with great interest. I came across the
P6 pouch/case at TreoCentral today, seems like it may suit my needs well, do you, or anyone else out there have any experence with this case?

I use some cheap earbuds from radio shack but only at the gym, its clipped on the neck of my shirt when not in use and only broadcasts the worlds greatest show "A Prairie Home Companion".
Sorry not much help on that one.

The P6 pouch case looks great. I have never used it but I it looks like its low profile, made well and easy to use. If you get that one I would love to hear your feed back.
Think I'm gonna give it a try, I have been used to straight-up holsters but since there is no number display on the top of the Treo I guess it dosent matter, and the price is right.

Wolfee what do you think of this Krusell here -->click it uses belt loops which gives the security of knowing the case wont accidentaly come loose and since its held by a belt loop at each end there would be less bounce when walking.
Heres an exact copy of the Nutshell except this manufacturer figured out it was a good idea to cover that metal belt clip with leather, which would stop the clip from scratching up your belt.

I think the P6 is more of what I need, I need to be able to take my 650 off my hip in a moments notice. I'm a firefighter among other things - minister - business owner - husband - grandfather etc. When the fire alarm blows I need to be able to quickly unclip, throw in locker, and go. The P6 has a rather large (wide) clip, I hope that will help it stay in place. When I do visitations in the hospitals I also snap off my phone and leave it in the car. I am still useing my 600 in the Verizon case right now, the spring clip on the back of this thing makes it stick out a "country mile".

After reading lots.. the P6 sounds like the one for me as well. I'm not ready to order yet though, maybe soon. I'd be curious to hear some reviews on it.
On second thought, maybe it sounds like its the one for me because James hasn't got to it yet to critique it

LOL,,,, Yah, let me at it
Well if a horizontal cases were my thing then that one looks perfect. The clip looks good and wide to prevent the case from rocking much. It looks like there would be enough give in the case so you could get a grip on the phone while taking it out. If that one has any bad points, I dont know what they would be.
Alright I'm ready to order a case/pouch/holster but I'm not sure which one!
The P6 looks good and so does the Seidio holster, clip type probably. Bah! By the way I noticed on Ebay that there is a Monaco case that seems to be identical to the P6 pouch on treocentral.. just do a search for treo monaco pouch on ebay.
The good:
1) Nice slick fabric liner inside the case to reduce resistance placing and removing the phone.
2) The pouch is stiff so it holds its shape and doesn't flatten which makes slipping the phone back in the case easy.
3) I don't like magnetic flap closers but I know many do because its easier to use and more quiet than velcro. I myself would never go jogging with one.
The bad:
1) The big lock release clip causes the phone to stick way out from the hip.
2) Since this pouch uses a lock release clip there is only a small part of the case that is stabilized so a quarter of the time while taking the phone out of the case the bottom of the case tilts outward making it very difficult to remove the phone from the case.
3) The lock release swivel used on this case if one of the cheapo types, not the good ratcheting swivels that Seidio usually uses, so the clip has a lot of play and moves around a bit while trying to put the phone in the case.
4) The button on the lock release clip is very hard to press down. Its easier to just unclip the clip from your belt.
5) Half the time while putting the phone in the case the magnetic flap catches the front of the phone, after awhile I got use to holding it out of the way with the thumb.
6) The case is put together well but it is thin leather sewn to nylon fabric with some cardboard in the middle. Nothing compared to the quality leather of a Nutshell.
