Nutshell Treo 650 case. Its not as bulky as it looks but it does add a little size to the case. They could sew it alittle more snug but then it would be hard to get the phone in and out, and leather this thick dosent streach much. Also they could make it thinner to decrease the size but Nutshell is not looking to compete against cheap P.O.S cases.

In our experiences here, the Seidio clip performed poorly. After a couple months of use, the phone would fall out simply going down a flight of steps.

The Proclip versions that we've had have lasted considerably longer without any complaints.

Ya, I always had great luck with my Proclip until I caught it on the end of it on a book shelf and snaped the clip part in half'

Which Seidio clip are you talking about?

I only have experiance with the Seidio clip type and cradle type for the T650 also the Proclip for the T600 and T650 and I can say with out a doubt the Seidios have stronger clips and hold the phones more securely

Lightbulb

Nutshell would like to thank Mr. James Ritter for his review of the Nutshell product for the Treo 650

In response to his concerns, we have identified the cause of the lump he reported:

2) There is something pushing up the leather in the back that might wear thin in about 5 years, I guess.

The case design has been modified and the lump has been eliminated:

In addition, Nutshell can now confirm that our Series #201 case will comfortably hold a Treo 650 in a 'skin'.

My concern was the bump on the inside, Is that the one you fixed?

And I would like to add that the Nutshell cases work very well with the Sena leather skin case. Most skin cases are kind of grippy the Sena case slides easily in/out of the Nutshell. Thats great because you can still have the best, easiest case to use while keeping it safe with the Sena case when its out of the Nutshell.

Hey there JPR,

I read this thread with interest because I want my first 650 case to be my last. In your opinion, knowing what you do now, if you had to do it again, from scratch, would you just get the Sena case and the Nutshell case? Or would you get something else (not the Sena) to go with the Nutshell since you can't access much on the 650 when it's in the all-encompassing Nutshell? If you'd get the Sena again, what clip would you get with the case or would you buy the Sena case, sans clip? Speaking of clips, I noticed the Nutshell case can be purchased with a belt loop option instead of a steel belt clip option, and I was wondering if you considered that. Yeah, you'd have to unloop the belt to get the case on and off but it would (?) be closer to the body than the clip and I'm wondering if it might be more comfortable, when sitting down because there wouldn't be the metal bar clip and that other metal ring thing. It looks like it would be more secure too. Plus in a pinch, if you ever needed to put it inside a pocket, is it better not having the extra metal dangling? What are your thoughts?

Thanx,

Will

Wil,

Clip type:
1) You can take the case on/off without taking your belt off (a little hard, the clip is rigid)
2) You can only wear the case vertical

Belt loop type:
1) You can wear the case horizontal or vertical
2) Its even more comfortable than the clip type (which is still very comfortable)
3) Its easier to slip you belt through the belt type than sliding the rigid clip onto the belt.

I never wear a belt.

I sent the Sena case back to Sena yeserday, I only put the pick up of the Sena in the Nutshell because someone specificaly asked me to.

I would buy the Nutshell first If I had to do it over again because:
1) I dont care about getting to the side customizable button because I dont listen to music or use a headset but there is a hedset hole in the bottom of the case.
2) I quickly decided that all lock/release cases stick the phon out to far.
3) Most case arent an option for me because they look like woman billfolds or they have plastic over the keyboard or screen.

But Wil tell me what you like and I will try to help you make your first case your last.

I just want to comment on the awesome Nutshell company.

1) Delivery from New Zealand took only 2 weeks even with the most inexpensive delivery.
2) I never called the company about what modifications I thought the case needed. They found me, then made the modifications on an amazing 2 days.

Finally -

After searching for weeks for case reviews for the Treo 650, I have found what I'm looking for.

Can you please tell me if you use egrips or any other skin with your new Nutshell case?

I am a bit leery of a case that I have to put in and take out the 650 because that introduces more opportunity for slippage or droppage. But silicone or a skin case might help. Is this a concern of yours also?

I don't think I'd ever go jogging with my 650 but I do need a case that will be secure either by a belt loop or a strong clip.

Have you reviewed any of the Krussel cases?

Thanks for sharing your efforts.

Edit: I re-read your review that mentions Egrips won't work with this. But I am still interested in knowing how you protect your 650 when it is out of the case?

The nutshell is a tight fit, I tried to put my Treo in it with the egrips on but it was near imposible. I have herd others say you can leave the egrips on the sides. I didnt think of that when I took mine off.

The silicon skin would never fit into the Nutshell. I herd Nutshell was working on that but I would want to see pictures first. The Sena leather skin case worked fine in the Nutshell but I think it looked silly so I sent my Sena case back.

The Krusell case would also fit fine in the Nutshell or in the Seidio pouch case. Or of course you could just use the silicon skin in the Seidio pouch.

Yes I am currently searching for something to protect from light scratches. I tried the skinit but it ended up being cheap junk.

I have never had a Krusell case but of course this is what happened to my Krusell clip. Proclip hosters use Krusell clips. The Krusell cases have plastic over the keyboard an sometimes the screen so its not an option for me. But tell me what you want in a case and I could suggest a good one.
