This flap is a pain but not after you get in the habit of holding it out of the way with your thumb while placing the phone back in the case. Then its no big deal.
I took this case apart because I wanted to put a better clip on it and found out how cheap it was. Thin leather glues to a paper card and sewn to nylon fabric. Im sure thats how most cases are and they hold up OK under normal use but I'll stick with the quality of the Nutshell.
So if any one wants the case I made from the Seidio pouch just reply to this post. No private message please (no PM). I sewed it together very well, with incredibly strong thread made for leather. The clip is one of the good Seidio indestructable clips. Its low profile and stays in place when placing and removing the phone. I took the magnet out and plan to sew on velcro, but might not get around to it.
Great review! And stay away from my treo case, destructo
By the way, I ordered a Monaco horizontal pouch case from Ebay (appears to be same as P6 pouch from treocentral). Hopefully I like it otherwise I may be getting one of the Seidio holsters next.
James,
How many cases do you have? It seams you are the guru of case knowledge. I appreciate all of the info, but can't help but wonder about all the money you're spending.
By the way, I totally agree with you about the Nutshell case. I had one for my 7135, and ordered one for my 650; got the case before the phone.
Thanks for all the informative posts re: the cases - and regarding the seidio one that you frankensteined, i'd be willing to take it. how much were you thinking?

I have 1 case, the Nutshell , I have a net of $157.00 spent. I also have the case above ready to give away which I made out of 2 different cases but I didnt pay for either one of them. Heres the beakdown:
Seido clip type ($24 + $5 for shipping)
Proclip ($24 + 5 for shipping)
Seidio cradle type (free from Seidio to do review)
Pacific Rim leather plastic over screen (I was reimbursed cost and shipping cause it was the wrong case)
Pacific Rim open face leather (Again reimbursed, wrong case)
Sena leather (didnt like it, was reimbursed, so cost $5 to ship and $2 to ship back)
Seidio redesigned clip type (free from Seidio to do review)
Seidio redesigned cradle type (free from Seidio)
Nutshell ($50 + $10 shipping)
Treocentral silicon skin ($20 + $5 shipping)
Speck skin tight (reimbursed cost so out of pocket $5 to ship and $2 to ship back)
Sedio pouch case (free from Seidio to do review)
So $157.00 thats not bad, more than some and less than others. I heard the average treo owner tries a total of 5 cases.

I can't say for sure but I think I read that it wouldn't fit. I know I read that some people use the Sidekick II horizontal case with a skinned Treo. There is even a thread on one of these Treo boards with pics of one inside the case. But an official horizontal case such as the P6 with enough room for a skinned Treo would interest me as well.
Originally posted by jamespaulritter Heres an exact copy of the Nutshell except this manufacturer figured out it was a good idea to cover that metal belt clip with leather, which would stop the clip from scratching up your belt.
I will ask Nutshell about that. The uncovered metal clip does scratch the insides of belts and I imagine that it would wear a hole in your pants if you didnt use a belt and always kept the holster in the sames spot after a couple 5 years.
Is this the Sydney Harbour pouch case your talking about? Here
No I dont like that one It uses those fat clips. And ya it looks like it covers the ringer switch.

Yeah, that's the one. Too bad about the clip because I would like a Nutshell pouch with a swivel clip (to hold the 650 horizontally).
My Treo 650 for VZ is due in 2-3 weeks. Here is my dilemma: I expect to have three different ways of carrying the 650. 1) In my Tumi bag while commuting to work (buses/subways); 2) In my suitpocket (skins would make it too bulky); and 3) On my belt when not in a suit with the option to wear vertically or horizontally.
I have been vacillating between the Seido holster with egrips and the Nutshell with side egrips, given your helpful reviews. The egrips would allow some protection when used from my suit pocket. My concern is that the holster type would eventually wear away the paint at the contact points. The pouch type solves this problem but I want one that can be worn vertically or horizontally and not sticking out too much with a fat clip.
Now you do know that you can get a Nutshell with a belt loop option instead of a belt clip so that you can wear it horizontal or vertical on a belt. You just run the belt through the flap vertical or horizontal. Wil just got his and he loves it
I used my Seidio clip type holster heavily for 4 months with no sign of wear.

Yes. I forgot to mention that I hate having to take the belt off to attach or remove the case since I usually attach my phone near the belt buckle. Also, I don't always wear a belt.
Although 4 months of holster use with no sign of wear is nice, I expect to be using the 650 for several years. Case in point, the Treo 650 is an upgrade from my Palm Vx and my Motorola Startac 7868!
