Ringtones without sd card

I've used search but do not seem to get this question answered: When I place a file into my install tool, whether it be an mp3, wav or midi it assigns it to install into an sd card. I don't have an sd card at this time. How do I get new ringtones to install without an sd card. Thank you for you patience with my learning forums.

Hello davetik,

This is Kevin from palmOne. Your Treo can use midis as ringtones. There may be third-party solutions for other file formats, but I'm not very familiar with them. You can either email the midis to yourself or download them directly. There is a good step-by-step guide to all this in the palmOne Knowledge Library article "Get MIDI ringtones on your Treo smartphone" here.
Hope that helps.

Sincerely
Kevin

treo won't play midi files

I emailed midi files to myself, and saved them in the sounds section as instructed. However my treo still won't play them. Are there any other hints that I need.

ringtones

Hello pobrienjhu,

There are no other hints I can think of except that when you retrieve the MIDI file via email, the file is added to the database that stores Treo 600 ringtones. This database file is called "MIDI Ring Tones 1.0" on your Treo 600; it is a hidden file, so you won't see it unless you use a file utility like Filez to view it. You might check to see if the ringtones are indeed there.

The only other possibility I know of ideals with the size of the midi file. You can read about this in the palmOne Knowledge Library article "MIDI file won't play (Treo 600)".

Sincerely
Kevin
