Treo 600 USB Driver

Hi all,

I am pulling out my hair on this one.

Somehow, my USB driver the USB HotSync cable no longer works. When I attempt to Hotsync with it, I look at the Device Mgr on Win 2000 and it says No driver found. Apparently, the driver gets sent down when the initial hotsync occured.

Does anybody know how to fix this, except for re-doing Windows all over again? I ran HandspringUSBRegClean under the Utilities directory and no luck, amount many other thing.

Thanks,

John

You could try reinstalling the software from the cd that came with the Treo 600, that may or may not have the necessary driver on it. Also, I am unfamiliar with W2k but all other version of Windows I am familiar with (98/ME/XP) have a registry and/or system restore option. If all else fails, you could see if W2k has the option and if so, take your registry back to a day that you know the Hotsyncing process was working ok.

I believe the driver is typically installed as part of the Palm Desktop installation. So, you could try reinstalling Palm Desktop for the Treo to get back the driver.

please help!

I'm losing my mind on this one. I've had nothing but problems with this phone and I got a new computer and now its worse. I got the phone as a refurb, without cables and disc. I bought usb cable, but cannot get sync w/ usb to work on winxp. I've tried to download software from palm, install/ uninstall. Remove items from computer, restore. NOTHING works. Its a viscious cycle.
I haven't been able to find a patch out there for the driver.

HELP! What can I do to get this to work with the tools I have?

Thanks.

Forgetting about the driver for a second, does the computer make a sound when you connect the Treo? Do you see it listed under Device Manager? Does it have a yellow question mark?

In any case there is some useful troubleshooting tips at Palm Knowledge Library for hotsync issues. They also offer support via online chat for hotsync problems.

When I connect the item and run hotsync, sometimes just the USB will pop up as a new device or an unrecognized or unsupported device. In addition on certain instances the new hardware icon pops up in the tray as well. I think that the different icons pop up depending on the stage of install or uninstall I'm in.
In a moderately fresh install typically the USB indicator will make a noise on the computer and a bubble will come up that the device is unrecognized. I double click on that to come to a menu, where I double click on the usb:unknown device and choose update driver. I choose the usb driver from palm the palm program file/usb drivers file is palmusdb.inf I then get a message that this file does not contain information for my component. I have tried to allow the wizard to find the driver. I will look further on the palm knowledge base, but have been through the walkthrough that is 3 pages long a few times. Where you go through and uninstall everything, including finding all instances in the INF folder.
I am going to look further for the chat today, I've not found it in the contact section.

See if this link works for the hotsync chat.

I found it on the support page of the 700p. It's likely that they are only providing this link on the support pages for the latest Palm devices.
