Because there are so many different carriers that are offering the Treo 600, this answer will vary by radio type and carrier. If you have additional information, please provide it below and we will update this FAQ.
Sprint PCS - CDMA
Yes, and it works quite well. You will need two additional items to make this work. First, you will need a USB sync cable. The Handspring USB Sync/Charge cable works very well for this. Second, you need to buy PdaNet from
http://www.junefabrics.com/palmnet/ . This is the software required to make this work.
Then what,
1. Connect your Treo 600 to your laptop via the USB cable.
2. Download PdaNet.
3. Install PdaNet.
4. Hotsync your Treo 600.
The installation is now complete. To use your Treo 600 as a wireless modem with a Windows PC or Laptop,
1. Connect your Treo 600 to your laptop via the USB cable.
2. Start PdaNet from your Application Launcher.
That's it... you should now have an active connection to the internet on your laptop. It will show a connect speed of 144kbps, however this is not the actual speed. Speeds will vary depending on network traffic and signal strength, but you should be able to get 70-110Kbps most of the time in a good area. This works great.
One note of caution. Heavy use of this device as a wireless modem could result in a violation of the Sprint TOS, and termination of your data access plan. Don't plan to use this as a primary internet connection for your laptop or desktop computer. If that is your plan, then you should acquire a data card from Sprint PCS. This has been a great emergency tool for me.
