It's not what you think--besides the upgrade path is long ended.

I bought a refurbed Treo 300 on eBay strictly for PDA use--no phone, no wireless. It came with the serial number plate missing. I knew that, but did not realize it would be impossible to sync the Treo to my Mac without a serial number. At least, Palm's web site requires a serial number before allowing me to download the Palm Desktop for Mac.

Any suggestions how to obtain the temporary use of a valid serial number? Is is possible to locate the serial number from the memory of my Treo?

Try looking in the Launcher. Hit the House key, then the Menu key, and tap "Info".

When Info comes up, tap "Version". You should see the Serial Number under the Palm OS version.

...that is, unless Handspring didn't set it up to do this. Most Palms will do this, and the code is there.
