Service in Chicoutimi is 800Mhz CDMA only. Phone says "No service". When I dial ##DEBUG, it says it's CDMA 1900Mhz... somehow, the PRL doesn't tell the phone to try 800Mhz. I can't auto-update the PRL in the phone using *228 service because my phone is known as analog (ggrrrrr!).
I managed to get a friend with a Bell Treo 600 to co-operate. Using BitPim, I obtained the "prl_0000" file from it. From instructions on the internet:

The files you downloaded from your phone are padded out with zeroes to a length of 4k bytes and then have 6 bytes added at the beginning.
If you strip off the first 6 bytes of the file, and strip off all of the zeroes at the end you get a proper PRL that you can open with the Motorola PST.
... this made a file which QPST, althoug weirdely didn't open with "RL editor", did allow to write into the phone using the "service programming". With this recent Bell PRL, my phone said "No service" even in Quebec city... mmmh... so I put back the Sprint PRL, which only works in Quebec city. This sucks so much ass there is no more crap in them.
So original sprint PRL works in Qc city, stops working when leaving 1900 coverage.
Bell PRL 30330 does the same thing.
Bell PRL 30367 doesn't even work in Qc city.
Anyone know where I can find PRL files for say, Sprint (more towers apparently )? It seems everything I find is talking about the PRL files, but all are downloading them through the air.
This is a major problem because Bell Mobility is 1900 in big centers, 800 in other cities and analog in lots of places.
This is screwed up since I remember seeing specifications for this phone which said 800/1900 CDMA.
Anyway, unless there is a way to unlock the 800 Mhz mode in it, we can all forget about it, unless you plan on using it in 1900 covered areas, which is not my case.

Hard reset. Hold down the power key while poking the reset with a pin. You should be then asked what language to set up the phone for.
This will blast all the data off the phone, so sync first.

Thank you for breathing some new hope in my Treo. Does anyone know if this Serial Cable/BitPim/QPST procedure will work with a Treo 270?
Also, I tried to enable the pass-through mode on the Treo 270 by entering ##3424, and nothing happened, does the Treo 270 have a different code combination or does it have to be attached to the serial cable with the software loaded?
