My previous attempt at posting a thread doesn't seem to be showing up, so here goes again: I want to migrate over to Cingular because they have some plan features I'd like to take advantage of. Dispite the fact that ATT Wireless is now owned by Cingular, they refuse to give me the unlock code and insist that I can only migrate by purchasing a new phone. I don't want to spend any more money. My Treo 270 cost me enough to make me want to hold on to it for a good long while. How can I get the unlock code?

It's now Oct. 2005, and I am still searching for the unlock procedure for a Treo 270.
There have been many posts that refer to mysterious web sites or ebay that offer clues, but in fact there is no one that has successfully unlocked their Treo 270 unless their service provider gave them the code.
Beware of ebay sellers that offer locked phones with the promise they can be unlocked just by searching the web.
When these phones were programmed, they were made so large companies that bought them could be guaranteed they wouldn't have their locks compromised.

I also bought on Ebay a Treo 270, advertised as "unlocked". It was not.

I have tried the various web sites..and entered the IMEI code with no avail.I have also contacted other web sites advertising unlocking services, again "no joy". Most say they do not know how to unlock the 270.

Be aware some web sites state the IMEI code is 6 or7 digits, it is not. It is 15 digits. i have also advised Ebay that auctions offering "unlocked" 270's should be verified.

I now have an expensive paperweight
any ideas?
