I cast my vote at 3PM (Eastern Time) and the 7135 is comfortably in the lead 206 (63%) to 122 (37%).
It seems to me pretty amazing that I phone you can't even purchase yet directly from a major carrier would win over the Treo 300, but that seems to be the case. I suspect most if not all of the votes for the 7135 can be credited directly to the activity on smartphonesource.com!!!
Uh oh! Since noon PT the Kyo's lead has dropped from 1.7 to 1 to just 1.25 to 1! In the last ten minutes, Treo owners have been voting at a normalized rate of 160 per hour, while the good guys (that's us) are only managing 50! There are a lot of hours left and if this trend doesn't reverse the Treo will easily overtake the Kyo's lead!
After midafternoon (PT) peaks of literally hundreds of votes/hour for both phones, things have calmed down quite a bit. Treo did manage a burst of votes around 2 PM, managing to whittle our lead to just 54/46%, but we came right back at 'em with a larger burst, and we're getting more votes per hour than they are.
So we're still in the lead. The bad news is that it's still by only 7 points! We've only picked 3 percentage points since 2 PM!
Of course, the more votes that are accumulated, the less impact each vote has on the ratios. Still, "every vote counts" and there are still more than 14 hours of voting. 9 AM PT / 6 AM ET is the deadline.
And I hope all you voters realize, we're going to have to do this at least once more. Maybe three times!
Yes, I really do need a life.
(Yeah, we need lives.) More importantly, IMO, is that more people voted in this competition than in other competitions. The message to manufacturers is that the public wants smartphones. That is good for us -- more smartphone choices, lower prices!

The other way round. It says 9am PT which means we at the East Coast can still vote until 12 lunch time.
Just did that. It's 981 : 1248 for our Kyocera.

/me slaps himself
Odd though... it's past noon PT, 3PM ET, well after official quitting time of 9 am, and votes have not only been accumulating between 9 and noon, they are still coming in! Someone at cnet must be asleep at the switch!
I didn't check at 9 am, but at both 6 am and 10:30 am we were solidly ahead.
Funny, but voting still hasn't closed. I bet the cnet folks are upset that the treo lost, and do not want to close the voting... Impartial shimparcial..HAH.
Well, SOMEone isn't conceding defeat, as the votes keep trickling in for both. But the Kyo's trickle continues to be significantly larger than the Treo's.
I wonder who all these Kyo voters are... do you suppose a lot of them are Treo owners who bought their phone and now are looking to upgrade to the better model?
Well, now you gone an' done it, Robert - between 19:30 and 20:05 PT, the vote rates reversed! The Treo got almost 3 votes for every one received by the Kyo!
Tell you what - don't extend any more "peace feelers" until after it's over, ok?

Good game plan! But if the Treo wins on the strength of their board members' votes vs. ours, we don't deserve it!

The other phone looks rather neat. I'm just wondering how easy it would be to actually use those functions. Because of the tiny screen, and no touch-screen support. It seems that scrolling, and pressing buttons. might be somewhat of a pain.
But for the price, and size, its not too bad. Thats one action-packed small phone! It might actually appeal more to normal phone users then the 7135.
Over on the other side, the other smartphone contender, the S-E P800, is just mopping the floor with the Nokia "circular keypad" monstrosity. I think it would be great to see two smartphones in the finals, so I suggest weighing in on the P800's side while you're at it.
