I do not believe there is currently any way to look at a current days new/updated threads from all forums on one list/screen.

2) Before the hack attack, if you clicked on one of the links on the index page listing the most recent 15 new/updated threads, you would get taken to the last page (or more likely the latest post at the time the index page was last refreshed). Now it takes you to page 1, and you have to click again to get to the first unread post (not a really big deal on the computer, but takes a while on a smartphone).

3) The "buddy list" was included on the index page, pre-hack, (both online and offline buddies), and it's no longer there. For a couple hours, post-hack, the "online" buddies were listed (which seems preferable to using up space listing people that aren't online)... but now there is no buddy list (except on the User CP page).

On my machine, it works normally (brings me to first unread post).

One thing which I have found interesting, and maybe it's related?-- not a problem, more of an observation-- is that sometimes, when I am browsing for a while, or if I leave my machine and come back, it spontaneously refreshes the unread pointers. In other words, clicking the 'first unread post' button takes me to the first one for this hour, or whatever, rather than the first one from when I originally signed on. And I don't know if that is a setting that the board software controls, to review that time pointer every so often, reorganize the thread list, and update where the buttons go to? I presume this is expected, since it functions the same as it did before the hack. But I was just wanting to make sure that this was normal, and also speculate if this may have anything to do with the 'first unread' button seeming to skip posts....

OK, I have all the hacks installed except contract/ expand posts. Does anyone find that usefull? if so I will add it also. I am not sure what you all think about it.

Also, are we still seeing issues with the smileys?

Those issues are all related to the main index page. We have changed to a different "version" for the main index page, and I'm not quite sure if any of those can be implemented or not...

Too bad about the difficulties thanks for the good work.

I really liked the way things were prior, where the most recent threads were on the home page. That was super convenient since I feel most regulars want to check out the new posts first and go directly to the first unread post.

Also now clicking on "go to unread thread" takes me to the last lost

I use the contract expand posts. it helps prevent me from reading posts I have seen before if I only have unread posts expanded. Not a big deal if no one else is using it.

site is looking back on track JJ. good work.. i know it has taken you quite a lot of time to correct the issues.

i personally dont use the contract/expand.. i much prefer to go to the forum and hit the arrow to take me to the last message(s) posted since my last visit...

JJ - maybe it is related to my earlier report --- dunno if its my browser (phoenix 0.5), but when i click on "go to the first unread message," i am taken to the last message in the thread, which is not the first unread message. i just double checked with IE and see the same thing happening, so it is not browser-dependent

Looking good JJ and jazz! If nobody else cares, it might be better to only show "online" buddies. I can't think of too many good reasons to want to easily see who isn't online.

SERIOUS GLITCH FOUND!!! STOP THE PRESSES!

:rdcop

On the index page, www.smartphonesource.com, if you look at the page title (the title bar in IE) it says the following:

SmarphoneSource

SMAR!!! SMAR!!! It's the SMAR Virus!!! We need more power to the engines, Scotty!

FAQ:

Q.) What the heck is wrong with you?

A.) Yeah, I've got problems. But I've got "therapy" on my To-Do list on my imaginary Kyocera 7135 Smartphone - so don't worry!

Keep up the good work on the site boys!

Jazz (and JJ),

This question is probably very naive...

Isn't there a way to schedule a system backup such that in the event of a hacker attack, or a corrupted folder or some other disaster, you could do a restore from backup and have everything back to the way it was prior to the incident? It seems like you had to spend hours restoring everything to its original condition.

Search difficulty

I am having what appears to be a technical bug associated with keyword searches. No matter how many words I put into a search, I am getting the following message...

The search term you specified (pc) is under the minimum word length (3) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.
If this term contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific.

I tried with several searches that were well beyond the 3-word minimum with the same results. I just started noticing this today (April 16th).

Thanks!

Dave... I think the problem is that one of your search words is under 3 characters long. Try to put a "*" at the end of any words less than 3 characters and see if that helps.

Dave, I think you've been confused by the error message. It's not saying you have too few words, but too few letters in one of your words. So "pc" (2-letters) is too short. As Rob says, try "pc*".

correct. but if you have only one letter or number and try to put two "*" after it (i.e. searching for the number 2 and inputting 2**) you will get this message. too many wildcards in this case...

I'm having problems with the site today. The main screen looks normal but going to any threads it becomes a black and white, text only window instead of the normal color and graphics. Did I change a setting?

Everything has looked normal for me all day. I recommend logging out (to clear cookies) and then logon again.
