Jesus, what a butt ugly abomination. And GSM/GPRS to boot. This one might as well not bother being released...
And I love this:
"This smartphone uses GPRS/GSM wireless networks. GPRS offers 144 Kbps connections, though only under ideal conditions. GPRS is widely deployed in Europe and other parts of the world but is just getting off the ground in the U.S."
Seems the writer has GPRS confused with CDMA 1X, which actually CAN get 144K in the mythical ideal conditions. GPRS as implemented today cannot even THEORETICALLY get over 60K or so in perfect conditions. More like 20-30 real world.
Funny how the GPRS hype started at 172K (oops, we forgot to tell you that was forward and reverse link COMBINED), then went to 115K (oops, did we mention that was with all 8 time slots and no error correction?), down to a more reasonable 50 or so.
I guess Kyocera is the only manufacturer who knows how to design a smartphone. All Palm did was basically create a Treo without the flip. They suck. Of all the companies making palm OS based devices, Palm themselves makes the worst ones. What's up with that?

Why is it that Palm can not invent its own innovations, but seems beholden to their competitors for new ideas? The Tungsten W (the model name of this phone) is basically a blackberry. The Tungsten T (the model with the sliding controls that reveal a grafitti panel) takes lots of ideas from the Sharp Zaurus. The Zire (the new low-end model) looks like a Sony CLIE wannabe. Hard to believe this is the company which revolutionized the handheld industry.
