Same here in San Diego, CA. *2 and #2 both give me "The feature code you've entered is not valid. 691 1" or some other strange error code.

*2 software fix that worked

[quote:2ef46f3a47="burble"]Same here in San Diego, CA. *2 and #2 both give me "The feature code you've entered is not valid. 691 1" or some other strange error code.[/quote:2ef46f3a47]

I obtained a software fix (a .prc file) from service agent at Sprint store in San Diego (Carmel Mountain area). I installed file and it worked fine. I now have *2 service (although #2 doesn't work now). I am attaching a zipped verison (called Scrap) of the file to this email.

Good luck.

What's up with the file attached to the above message!!

It's not a Palm file or a program.

when I did a file extension search on the internet here's what I found referenced for the SHS file extension.

SHS
File extension for shell scrap file, reportedly used to send "password stealers"

I found this reference on the following site. http://www.abbre.com/

Shell Scrap (Win95)

Kind of suspisious, or careless. Not sure which

I got some information looking at the contents of scrap.shs. It's some Microsoft Word and/or Office script format. The contents has some information referring to the Sprint Network and WAP settings. I couldn't tell if it could be malicious or not. I would definitely be cautious and not run this file, unless someone else with more experience with this file type says it's ok.

To be on the safe side, the above file has been removed until we are sure it is safe.
Thanks

I'm going to take a risk here and show you how ignorant I am. I have had my phone for about a month now. How can you tell what software the phone is running? I can't find it. What difference does it make?

I'm going to say this in a nicer way than some of the others might. Just use the search feature and READ, READ and do more READING.

I can understand your confusion, I'm a techie type but had never used a PDA so when I got this phone instead of there being a learning CURVE, it was a HAIRPIN TURN

My first bit of advice is this, if your not the techie type i.e. someone that wants to tweak, tune adjust or change things just to know how it works or to be able to do something just a little better or do something just for the Gee Whizz! factor.

You don't need to know what SW the phone has, or do anything but use some of the pgms already available and have fun.

Ah but if you are the Techie type, chances are you probably didn't get the phone unless you were.

Your at the right place there is an abundance of info on here. Just do a search for different topics or subjects of intrest. Like [b:f1abfe8771]SMS[/b:f1abfe8771], or [b:f1abfe8771]Grail[/b:f1abfe8771], or [b:f1abfe8771]KWPST[/b:f1abfe8771]. They will tell you some of the details of the inner workings and procedures.

That said, knowing which SW revision lets you know how current the SW is, if you have the newest, and what featues are available. To find that out from the phone flip enter "[b:f1abfe8771]111111[/b:f1abfe8771]" it will then say options then press in on the Jog dial, then press in on "Version" it will then tell you the info.

The newest PALM SW has the newest Eudora Mail & Web in Rom along with a new Open Wave browser. Before the new ROM updates you could make use of 500k of Flash memory using [b:f1abfe8771]FLASHPRO[/b:f1abfe8771], with the new Rom images your down to 180k of available Flash.

Also if someone talks about a subject you want more info on you can always send them a PM to ask more info.

Have fun,
